Reviews of Derby, WA
"Unsafe, crime on the rise"
Youth crime on the rise. Stayed here for a long time awaiting mechanical repairs on our vehicle and during this time there was breaks ins, cars stolen, property damage, borded up windows and glass shattered on the ground, gangs roaming the streets at night, screaming and swearing every night. This place is out of control, we stayed inside, doors and windows locked until we could leave. The police force are doing their best and unfortunately youth crime is out of control. Not a safe town.
"Hope your rich"
Derby was not a bad place some 4 years ago but since then it has priced itself out of reach of most. If you get a subsidy for your rent then you might be able to live here. If you like fishing and camping then thats ok. There is no night life except for the pub. Occasionally there are some concerts or the odd festival.
Where I live in Derby is where I can afford and it would be one of the worst streets in town. Lots of dogs barking, lots of noise music and fighting especially on pay weeks. So if your coming to Derby WA then be prepared or just don't come here to live unless you can afford around $2000 a week for rent

"Not for everyone"
If you are thinking of moving here then consider your family first and move to Broome instead. The fishing's fantastic if you don't mind taking a garbage bag to clean up first before you throw a line. The nights are noisy but admittedly we lived on street that happens to be a shortcut home from the pub.
