I moved from Doncaster in Victoria to the nice side of prospect, then rented at magill, owned a house at Norwood, west lakes, and now live at surrey downs. The move was due to work, but I would never move anywhere else. It's the best suburb I have ever lived in. The place is honestly beautiful. So much less traffic compared to the rest of Adelaide, easy to get around, and I always feel extremely safe, without a doubt the safest I've felt anywhere. There is just nice family's and people everywhere, even at the shops, always polite and friendly people. It feels like your in the hills with all the beautiful trees and wildlife, and its only 5 minutes from the Adelaide hills, tea tree plaza, and golden Grove village, and right next to one of the best foolands in Adelaide - Fairview green, and I previously shopped at foodland Norwood for many years. There's probably not as many choices for cafes and restaurants, but its a place where you can have the wood fired pizza oven going in the back yard and not worry about the neighbours as lots of people have open fires around the area going in winter, and it's a very peaceful living style. Definitely a very underrated area. Absolutely love living here, and for a lot less.

Surrey Downs is a lovely suburb with leafy green streets and lots of parks, easy access to public transport and a local primary school with in walking distance of most streets. There is a brand new shopping centre as well as several nice pubs.

I previously lived here and moved interstate. I am now moving back to South Australia and I only want to live in Surrey Downs!! I have always found the streets to be safe and the people are friendly.

I certainly would recommend this suburb to anyone looking for their new home.

History:
The area was originally used for agriculture and viticulture, but was redeveloped as outer suburban housing during the 1980s.

With the Surrey Downs Shopping Centre, Medical Facilities, Parks, Gyms, Transport and Great Schools - Surrey Downs is an affordable and attractive suburb that offers great value for money! You get a lovely sense of neighborly spirit when you explore this green and lush suburb.

Surrey Downs rides on the coattails of the surrounding suburbs of Golden Grove and Greenwith. Both of these suburbs are well mainted and a lovely place to live. I found buying a house and living in Surrey Downs quite an eye opener. The streets are poorly maintained. Lighting leaves alot to be desired. Medical, grocery and other services are either non existent or obsolute.

Be careful not to over pay for rental properties or any property just because it is surrounded by more prestigious suburbs. do your own research and you will find that all of the claims of beauty and nearby conveniences are actually in a different suburb.

Surrey Downs is a very affordable Suburb to live in, close to all facilities. Walk to shops, schools and transport, Medical Centre and the Golden Grove Tavern plus the New Fairview Green Shopping Centre. I lived in Surrey Downs for 20 years and found it very friendly and a great place to live when you have a growing family.
