Reviews of Underwood, QLD
"A nice suburb"
One of the nicer parts of Logan. Very safe with a great multicultural vibe. Housing is good value for money and would be a great place for a young family to build their first home. Public transport could perhaps be more frequent.
"Underwood, Strategic position, best of what Brisbane Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast has to offer."
Underwood is very convenient. There are huge full line and clean modern Supermarkets on a walking distance. Two Bunnings and others nearby. I have journeyed through great many places in South East Queensland, but I have never really come across one area with two offerings like that before. IKEA, RACQ and Brisbane Technology Park is close. Modern style McDonalds. They are renowned business names who are quite profitable in Australian market. Do you really think that they don't do any market research and analysis before they decide to invest?.Everything is just so close~! When considering a purchase of a property, "cliche - one of the biggest investment you will ever make in your life". You should check the following - Position, Potential and Price. Surprise, it does tick all the boxes. The reason that we have done the first move to Underwood was the positioning of the suburb. Close to M1, M2 only 5 mins drive and you are on your way to wherever you need to go. Not quite sure where davidy2 lives. I have scouted to the other side of Underwood that is other side of the Logan Rd, which has old rundown properties and some not under good management (eg lack of lawn mowing etc), compare to the other half. Modern new stylish houses that has right price (not inflated). So, discernment needs to be applied when you are looking at Underwood's property median prices. Not all the Underwood property is in same quality! Good rule of thumb for differentiation is, the other good area clearly is new with NBN, no old copper phone lines and overhead electricity, it's all underground. It's so close to Telstra exchange, so whether you are on ADSL or NBN you will be happy with your digital connection. Recently, Versace style mansion was sold for $1.25 Million which was record for the suburb. To give you perspective, that's still MUCH cheaper than some of the 2 Bedroom Units sold in Chatswood, Sydney for example.

"Underwood - it's okay"
As a resident of Underwood I'm surprised by all this glowing praise.
It's nice enough, surrounded by good suburbs, kind of close to stuff... but with lots of industrial and mainly just Bunnings and other shops of the type it's not real "shopping".
It's far from the city, has traffic... just nothing special. Amazed people have put "close to city"... that's not true.

Not great for
- No fashion stores or window shopping

"Underwood has been underrated for too long"
Underwood is a wonderful community that has been underrated based on outdated views of the suburb. Twenty years ago this working class area was a little rough, but now it has matured into a wonderful community where those who have lived in the area together have grown close and look after each other. I lovely place that is worth another visit.
"Quiet, Friendly, Beautiful!"
Myself and my Fiancé bought in Joanne Street 2 years ago. We have loved every minute of living here!
I have never lived in a friendlier street in my life. I remember one evening I rushed home to try and waterproof my garage and found my neighbour who I had barely met at this stage already creating a water diversion for me so that it did not run into the garage. You don’t get that kind of help everywhere! It is a house proud street where all the residents keep their yards tidy and looking great. There are a number of beautiful Pride of India trees in this street 3 of which at our place, and during the warmer months add a great splash of colour to the street. You need to be a dog person, as there are quite a few in the street, and they like to talk. Does not bother us at all but can annoy people who are not used to it.
As for the area, you are in close proximity to everything you could need. There are heaps of outlets and retail alike. If you are the renovating type it is HEAVEN. More tile, flooring, paint, taps, fittings etc shops than you can poke a stick at! Not to mention not one but TWO Bunning’s within 5 minutes of each other. It keeps getting better by the day as well. More and more businesses are choosing to move in to the Underwood shopping district!
There are some really great restaurants in the area as well. Antarctic Circle run by Charlie is our favourite restaurant by far anywhere, amazing service, brilliant Japanese cuisine with a western touch, and affordable. If you are in the mood for Thai, The Thai Orchid, the first Thai restaurant in Brisbane EVER is just a quick drive away and has the best Thai anywhere by far. Elios, a small Italian place in Underwood is owned and run by locals and has the best pizzas, is also a favourite of ours. Nightlife can be had down at the Glen Hotel, however that is about your only option in the area.
Transport is a little hard if you do not have a car, however with the bus way not far away and Kuraby train station a short drive there is options. A train in to Brisbane City will take you about half an hour.
Facilities wise, there are plenty! Medical, schools, child care and the like, all within walking distance. Although one thing that is a pain is the single split wheelie bin. We are only a couple and we over fill it every week. Although my local councillor tells me that is changing early 2011. Can’t wait for that.
All in all we love it here and don't plan on moving anytime soon!

This is a great area, but it can be expensive. Housing in the area is trending on the more expensive and larger side of the budget. Very good quality homes that are well looked after are more common than not. In the older part of underwood, homes are still larger than average and of a better quality than most surrounding suburbs. There are still pockets of land available, but cheap land is running out fast. Some blocks of land can be found for $400,000, but they're not large and they won't last long. Check out www.realstate.com.au and happy home hunting!
Underwood is a great place to live! I have lived all over QLD & Europe and have found no better place than here. The people are amazing, friendly and make you feel welcome. It is peacful, nice and I wouldnt have it any other way!
