Reviews of Wivenhoe, TAS
"Nice little coastal suburb"
Nice, quiet, yet light-medium industrial beachside and eastern suburb of Burnie. Located about 5kms from the Burnie CBD. Has an IGA supermarket with friendly staff, butcher, bakery, fruit and vegetable market, and a number of eateries. Small population. Pretty much would be described as working to middle class. Nothing wrong with that. Wivenhoe is home to the old Burnie Show Ground, Burnie Mens' Shed and where the Burnie Weekend Farmers' Markets are. There is a boxing club and other sporting clubs as well in the neighbourhood. There is an independently owned petrol station here. Wivenhoe has its own private K-10 Christian school. Freight trains pass through the area, though not very often.
Wivenhoe also has considerably sized home improvement and hardware centres. There is a public bus into town every 2 hours. The Naval Cadets and Army Reserve have branches here and there is a scrap metal/metal recycling yard in the neighbourhood, as well as the Toll Freight office and other warehouses. The Redline Bus from Hobart and Launceston will drop you here on the way to Burnie, if you book it to do so. Not to far further East on the Burnie Paper and Pulp Trail. Come for a visit! Meet the locals! Shop 'til you drop! It's a nice place to be. : )
