"A Peaceful Haven"

I love my drive home to the Mountain, enjoying the beautiful scenery on the way, with only a couple of sets of lights to deal with. Tamborine Mountain offers a peaceful lifestyle, and a great environment to bring children up in. If you are after a night life and clubbing then this is probably not the place for you, although there are a number of lovely restaurants. I have lived on the Mountain for 4 years and have found people by and large to friendly and ready to have a chat and a wave when you pass by. There is a great sense of community unity up here and very supportive in times of need. The schools and day cares are awesome. There are sporting fields, bowls club, gyms, kids dance lessons to name a few of the activities available on the Mountian. There are bi- monthly markets, always great to get your local fresh fruit and veg along with numbers road side stalls.
The temperature is on an average 5% cooler than down the Coast, and the summers tend to be less humid. Winter days can be misty with a little more rain than the bottom of the Mountain. You definitely get a change of seasons, but it is really nice to sit in front of the fire on a winters eve.
The major downside is a lack of transport, you have to have a car or two, but I think the pluses outweigh this inconvenience. The beach is about 40 mins away, but we have some lovely bush walks and Cedar Creek Falls.

Looking for a home in Tamborine Mountain?

"The best place to live....in spite of our Council"

There are so many positives about living on the Mountain, however the reasons for buying and moving here are rapidly being eroded. Land values are very high, consequently council rates are also high, given we don't have town water or sewerage or public transport. The Mountain's proximity to the Gold Coast and Brisbane is both a blessing and a curse. House prices have sky rocketed, there are no rentals available due to the profusion of Air B'n'Bs and the influx of people from metro areas. People buy here for the different lifestyle and environment, however many then reach for the chainsaw to turn their property into something one would find in any other overdeveloped suburb. Inappropriate development
Approved by "our " council is making the Mountain a less desirable place to live. More and more cabins, second dwellings and subdivisions are a threat to the very reasons we moved here 10 years ago. Long-term residents are constantly forced to fight to retain the very features which exemplify the Mountain's points of difference and which make it a great place to live.

"It is great if you are suited to the lifestyle."

There are some odd views of the Mountain. Yes it is beautiful, no question. It is quiet and a percentage of the community are friendly. Those locals that are friendly are very nice to be around. It takes a long time to become accepted and you will find your little group but that describes the community up here very well. If you like going out to really good cafes etc, find somewhere else. There are some acceptable eateries, but nothing outstanding at this time. They come and go but the locals have their favourite haunts and they are generally mediocre. To travel anywhere you really need a car as there is no public transport and an element of the locals are fighting tooth and nail to prevent more footpaths from being built. Mould, termites and ticks are at times severe problems on the mountain.
The schools are genuinely outstanding and the national parks are world class. The medical centres are also top notch, but if you have any chronic health issues remember you are at best 35 minutes from the nearest hospital. There is adequate shopping on the mountain with a new shopping centre now being built. If you want to do a major shop then very good shopping centres are within 30 to 40 minutes drive. There are 2 gyms on the mountain, one is outstanding the other is very ordinary.
It is a beautiful place to visit and it can be a nice place to live.

30 to 40 mins drive to where the Gold Coast? Are you joking, its does not take that long.

Yeah. Been there before in another community. It sucks that it takes a long time to 've accepted. The Gold Coast is the same in my experience. Beautiful place . Absolutely spectacular. It's a pity humans ruin it. However that's probably what the locals want. They think they own the place after moving out the original aboriginal owners.

"A great place to live"

North Tamborine is a wonderful area to live in. It manages to be quiet and completely private, and yet it is only a small walk to Main Street, Gallery Walk, or either of the State Schools. There is also no taffic more severe than the school run in the mornings. An extremely friendly neighbourhood, covered in beautiful rainforest, this place is excellent to live in, to raise kids in, to make friends in and much more.

"A quiet suburb, with lots of community groups"

Eagle Heights is a quiet area with large blocks, most with Hinterland and coastal views. There is a tendency to an older population with lots of community interests and activities. Neighbours can be relied on to help in times of need. Safety, security and friendly approach ensure a worry free lifestyle. The bushland setting creates a peaceful environment, yet when visitors pop in, there are tourist attractions close by, for entertainment. There are two primary and two high schools of excellent standard.

"Mount Tamborine - Natural beauty spot."

Mount Tamborine is only a short drive from the Gold Coast and is located in the Gold Coast hinterland. Mount Tamborine is a tropical rainforest rich in native flora and fauna. Explore some of the great walking tracks, picnic at some of the parks or for the more adventurous you can try hang gliding from the western side of the mountain. Mount Tamborine Golf Course will test you out but is a lovely walk and good views from the clubhouse. There are plenty of shops as well as arts and crafts, galleries and wineries. B&B’s and guesthouses offer good accommodation. Beautiful place to live, close to the Gold Coast with prices that are still with the reach of most.

"The Air up Here"

Mount Tamborine is actually a glorious plateau in the gold coast hinterland. Surrounded by natural beauty and National Parks, it's spectacular. The views of the gold coast from the height of the mountain are amazing. Locals are friendly and helpful and the schools in the area are award winning for their proactive and innovative approaches to learning. It's about an hours drive from Brisbane and a relaxing 25 minutes drive from the beach on the coast. There's an IGA supermarket and some amazing galleries with local artists featuring in them. An artistic community, it often has the feeling of being an island of serene in a crazy world. In winter I do recommend a fireplace in winter though.

"Hilltop Heaven for the Eagles"

Eagle Heights is on the plateau known as Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast Hinterland. It's about an hour out of Brisbane but only 25 minutes from Southport. The nature of the mountain is incredibly peaceful and somewhat rural. There is no water services, therefore all water is collected by residents in water tanks. This can be a problem in times of drought, however as a family of five, we still haven't run out of water after 6 years. There are fantastic local primary/high schools and the famous Gallery Walk tourist strip is crammed with cafes and art galleries, fudge shops and tearooms. All in all, a great place to live, if you don't mind a bit of a drive to major shopping, urban centres.

"Life on the Hill..."

North Tamborine is a peaceful, leafy place in the centre of Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland. Approximately an hour and a half from Brisbane, it feels like a different universe up here. The mountain was formed as a result of the Volcanic Mt Warning's eruption thousands of years ago, when lava and volcanic ash deposits piled up. It's this very volcanic soil that allows for such a beautiful and lush environment now. For gardeners, North Tamborine is the place to live as everything just flourishes. The local National Parks offer spectacular walking tracks and the views of the coast are quite something. The Witches Falls N.P was the first ever named in QLD. There is a vibrant cafe scene and award winning restaurants, such as Songbirds. I raise my two little boys up here and it has the feeling of being a community out of the 1950's. (In a good way!)
