Is Tamworth a nice place to live?

Hi, I appreciate any comment as my husband got a job in Tamworth and we are considering to move there from Brisbane. I was wondering if it is a nice and safe place as I have three small children. Also which schools are good there?

Tamworth is a lovely place to live and bring up your family. It is a major regional centre so it still has the rural appeal with many big city benefits. There are quite a few private and public schools to choose from and it would depend on what area you were wanting to live. Will you be buying in Tamworth or renting? You can usually tell the area that you will be living in by the rent amount.

Tamworth is lovely, we travelled all over Australia and eventually settled here just outside in Moore Creek. There is a lot of building work going on with lots of jobs. Children and children here longer and it's a safe, friendly environment to raise your family.

Visit Peel Street and have lunch and vist the real estate agents - the two we used took half a day each to show us around, couldn't have been more helpful back in 2009 - haven't looked back love it here

Tamworth is a bad place to live if you want your kids to have a good education. Halve the kids are drugos and the only good school costs lots of money.

I would stay in Brisbane. Tamworth is drought affected, sadly, and feel for all farmers and their cattle, but the Tamworth town itself, feels full of narrow minded and uneducated twats who seem to speak terribly of those that they think are NEW Aussies, and are BORN AND BRED Aussies, i.e anyone looking like a foreigner. Sad but true. I am from Brissy and returning there soon.

Goodbye; so sad that our lovely region was not a good fit for you. The drought was everywhere for four years, and not Tamworth-centric. Now we have abundance (rain, crops, construction, happy treechangers), but sadly COVID-19 as well, which is also everywhere (even in Brisbane). Take care, and always remember that we're still here, still focussed on a great future and the betterment of our community!

33 years ago I was living in Terrigal NSW by the beach and the northern invasion occurred from Sydney, so we set about looking for a place to relocate to. We went to Brisbane's Expo88 and stayed on the Gold Coast, again too crowded and busy. So I sat down and wrote a list of region-features that would meet the needs of everyone in our family, including facilities for health, education, transport, jobs, tourism... The Tamworth Region was the ONLY area that met everything on the list from Melbourne to Brisbane/Gold Coast. We bought 100acres with town water & a 5br home 470metres from an edge-of-town Tamworth suburb, for $215,000. 33 years later, still here, retired, and do not wish to live anywhere else. Tamworth is powering on with great plans for the future and soon to double all infrastructure, with major investment by the NSW government and large commercial ventures. It is a major hub for tourism and services the whole of Western NSW, and an ideal place for families and those looking for lifestyle changes, and yes, there is Aldi, 4 x Maccas, 2 x KFC, 3 x Subway, Dominos galore, Hungry Jack's, Apollo, Taco Bell, Zambrero, 3 x Coles, 2 x Woolies, the biggest Bunnings you've ever seen....
