New fire station for Templestowe - were locals informed?
Templestowe, VIC 3106 is located within the Manningham local government area, part of the Melbourne (Greater) Region in Victoria.
Did anyone know about the new fire station that has started construction on Serpells Road, Templestowe?
I must say I wouldn't be happy about living next door - unless I have a fire of course!
Were residents consulted? As a local I didn't know about it.

Yes, there was plenty of consultation and some objections by residents but unsure what the outcome was and construction started in 2010.
The properties adjacent to the location are bordered with large yards, trees and high fences. The level of noise from passing traffic on Williamsons Road is much worse than a fire siren in the middle of the night. Fire trucks usually don't hit the siren until they are a little bit away from the station in the middle of the night anyway.
Station is well under construction and should be complete half way through 2011.

Has it opened up yet? How's the noise?

It hasn't opened yet, still looks like there is plenty to do.
