yeah, that's for sure! It's an absolute joke to be honest...but even though we pay a fortune in rates, don't expect the current council to do anything about it - it seems like the do nothing in the area at all! I think they've been trying to get King Street fixed for 20 years! Very frustrating....
I think the residents of King Street were organising some sort of protest a while back, they even launched a website about how unsafe it was. Not sure it got anywhere. I see a number of residents are having to spend the money themselves to fix up their own gutters!
Well, JVS I think the reason we can't afford good roads, is that we have to pay for strange sculptures. Maybe the councillors live in streets that have no problems.
The partition for King Street to be fixed has been approved, the constructions has commenced and it has been completed. The road is now better than ever, with clear marking for the bus stops and traffic lights at the corner of Victoria Street and King Street and no more bumps. Just for an update!
Thanks for the update ToPpa, if only we can get Serpells Road fixed up now!
AJ
hahahaha, I don't think Serpells road will get fixed for quite some time! I took years of petitions from teh residents of King street to get anything done and I don't see anything mentioned about how bad serpells is in the local papers at all.
I would say don't hold your breath AJ!
The signs for getting King Street fixed were only up for about 2 years and after that time the road was being fixed. We have head poverty all over Melbourne for decades and nothing has ever really been done about it. In my books, 2 years is very fast and believe the residents of Serpells Rd and Tuckers Rd (extension of Serpells Rd) could all do the same and expect a new result.
The trick is Womper007 is to be optimistic and to actually form the petition, rather than expecting it never to happen. ;-)
