There are a few smaller parks and childrens playgrounds in Upwey but the larger parks are in Upwey South, Thompson Reserve and Birdsland Reserve adjoining Tecoma.
The main parks and gardens are further up the hills - Grants Picnic ground off Monbulk Road north of Belgrave, One Tree Hill Recreation Reserve off One Tree Hill Road in Ferny Creek. The Thousand Steps off Mt Dandenong Tourist Road / Burwood Highway. The National Rhododendron Gardens in Ferny Creek. These are literally the tip of the iceberg in term of parks and gardens in this area.
