Gisborne

"The quiet of the country, just a short trip away from the city."

Moved to Gisborne around 2 years ago, best moved I made. Found the locals very friendly and accepting of people who moved here to enjoy the same lifestyle the have.

The neighbors are all friendly, but respectful of your privacy at the same time. Plenty of room to move, parks to enjoy.

Enough local shops, Cafes etc that you have all you need for your day to day needs, and a short trip to the city for anything else.

Transport is improving, local bus services running more on a as needed request basis, which is more often then the timetable says. Lots of school buses serving all manner of schools on this side of town.

Gisborne is the place to live if you want the peace and quiet of the country, with all your day to day needs on your door step, and a easy drive to Melbourne for that night out, or shopping trip. I also commute into the CBD each day and find I get there quicker then most of my colleagues coming from the middle to outer eastern suburbs.

If you want the city constantly on your door step and life to be a constant party, Gisborne is not the place to be. If the biggest complaint people have about Gisborne, is that the locals are trying to keep it as it is, then it must be a good place to be!

Great comment. So if locals want to keep it as it is...which is great to reserve the whole point of the small quiet town, does it mean it'll never develop to have nice restaurants n shops for locals to enjoy and to attract more business for the business owners? Or do the retail just run purely to serve the locals?
