Stanthorpe

"Expensive, high crime and a town of the past"

I could go into the usual high council rates, high crime rate and lower income demographic but the town speaks for itself. Southern Downs Region is poorly managed by a Council and Councillors who have conflict of interest and in most large business/organisations.
Stanthorpe is becoming a town of the past with a decline in Tourism and nothing to offer - unless you are a fan of the quintessential wine and cheese in a run down bed and breakfast fun whilst watching the lower income demographic do burnouts down the main streets in town.

What crime problems are in Stanthorpe? Genuine questions here, no trolling. Did you move here from Brisbane? How much are the average residental rates for a 3 bedroom home? Thanks.

Average rates for a 3 bedroom home are between $3500-$4000 per year. On top of that you have water charges (seperate bill) depending on usage around $1200 per year.

Warwick

"Lots of crime, bad council and very expensive"

We have lived in Warwick for a few years now and are over the increasing crime. I urge you to check QLD crime statistics as there is an alarming rate of crime for the area.
Real estate agents only care about owners and nothing seems to get fixed with our landlord. We did look at purchasing but decided against the area due to high council rates, high crime and lack of services for kids.
The road are horrible in and around town.
Journalists will often write about how empty the streets are de to Covid but in reality the small stores are overpriced and due to the expensive of living here people generally show online.
Tradies will charge a small fortune for any work too. Our landlord tried to get to foot the bill for an old air conditioning unit which was over $6000 for the unit plus install. Mechanics are about the same very expensive service and the usual “we noticed this was also wrong and will cost a few thousand to fix”.
Just read the negative reviews from others on here as hey are all correct. The only good reviews are from owners trying to sell their property.

umm, i thought warwick was a bit strange but nice enough and strangely over-nice or over-not-nice people. However, your review is familiar and similar to my experience. I think if you have money and 'play the game' you'll be fine. It's one of those little controlled towns i think. Not sure if there are any towns left not controlled these days.
