CONS:Council - very expensive region to live or even start a business.
We decided to go inland a little more due to excessive council rates and policy.

"needs a lot more cleaning up to happen!!!"

I have lived in Zillmere/Taigum end for over a year. It is a really mixed bag. I don't feel unsafe, but there are so many rough housing commission bogans with litter everywhere, broken furniture and toys on the footpaths, etc mixed in with lovely new apartment and townhouses like my development. The Boondall police work really hard on trying to respond and clean up the area, but I feel like we need twice the amount of cops. There is a lot of hooning. My letter box has been broken into 3 times and items stolen. I have had to lodge it with the police and PoliceLink. :( Around Zillmere road and the station is rife with the mentally ill, bogans littering and scungy people in general. The QLD govt seriously needs to look at this suburb and cleaning it up and making it more safe with less thievery; all these developments are being built but nothing is being down about the scumbags. I don't want to sit in my lovely garden and hear white trash walking down the street screaming obsenities at each other, or worry about locking up my apartment like fort Knox.

HI Kate, You have described the area to a T. Yes the Govt needs to step it up & clean up the area. Handford RD is a dump, you have the TAB that draws unwanted people. Handford shops needs a facelift. Qld rail should have security on the weekend to mend the station.

Hi Angie, yes it is a mess and obviously we need tighter laws around policing the streets and littering. Handford road is a disgrace and looks third world. I also report to Deagon Ward filthy dumping and littering on Zillmere road. I shall be moving out of the area shortly.

* Moves to area that's been housing commission for 50 years.
* insists housing commission people be moved because she doesn't want to live near housing commission people.
