Sale

"Gippsland's First City"

"Sale is barely a blip on the map, and most people, or even many Victorian natives, haven’t heard of it. It’s a small-ish town that has a relatively high population considering its size and proximity. I believe it doesn’t offer much benefit to the state nowadays. It doesn’t thrive, as in, there isn’t much opportunity for jobs, education, or overall social life. It has poor development, and because of this it’s a pretty good candidate for crime, and unfortunately, in reality, it does have a lot of crime (petty crime). A large part of its demographics are unemployed single-parent households with many of your so-called “Bogans”. It has a high volume of diverse illegal drug consumption and sale. All of this is mostly experienced in and around the outsides of the town, mainly in the commission housing areas.

As for the rest of the residents, they’re mostly retirees and stable families that contribute to the workforce and the positive side of the community. The ones that unfortunately have to live in the “shady side” of the town have to mind their business and try to stay out of the way of trouble while the other antisocial types run amok and cause havoc. Sadly, people tend not to get law enforcement involved out of fear of violent retribution, and many do get violent, so nothing gets resolved. This just leads to further degradation of the synergy of living socially, gratefully, and comfortably in the neighbourhood, while fostering more rejection, stress, and potentially a dangerous environment.

It recently had a much-needed new and improved police station built, but despite this it’s still somehow just as useless and unimpactful as its predecessor was. When I was living there, I witnessed almost a decade of severe crime, from vehicle theft all the way up to attempted murder all with the police oblivious to most of it. It was truly horrific. Before Sale, I previously lived in South Dandenong, and let me tell you, despite whatever you may deduce from the statistics, Sale has an unrecognised very high crime rate that just blows away what we know and may have experienced in and around south-east Melbourne. I’m surprised there aren’t any gangs there since it’s the perfect environment for organised crime. Perhaps we will see the settlement of one some day.

Just stay clear!
