Queenstown

"Queenstown .....Best kept secret..."

We researched & read every review & tidbit of information we could find on Queenstown we could get our hands on.

Some good ...a lot bad...I am pleased to say Queenstown is nothing like it is portrayed....It has far exceeded our expectations

We are so glad we didn't do a drive thru in Queenstown, as we would have looked at the run down homes on the decent into town and kept on driving, missing the fantastic opportunity Queenstown has become. You need to spend some time here to really get a feel for the place.... to experience the welcoming locals, an easier pace of life, the lack of traffic & crowds & view the snow capped mountains & some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever find.

It is unfortunate that many of the homes are rundown, but it wont stay that way ...with housing afffordability so high in the bigger cities people are embracing regional areas and the chance to renovate & have a lovely home for so much less.

Of course just like every other town there are some gorgeous old homes and some not so gorgeous.....!

Yes there are jobs here...the schools are good...medical services are good...you can get most things you need from the local stores ...or go for leisurely drives through breathtaking scenery to Burnie, Launceston, Hobart ect for great weekends away...shopping, fine dining and sightseeing with any larger purchases able to be delivered to your door at a very reasonable price.

So far we have enjoyed our move here & look forward to seeing our family & friends who suddenly can't wait to visit....
