As many people that live on Long Island know that some parts of Long Island have changed over the past 15 years, Western Nassau mainly but there are still wonderful towns in western nassau. The heart of the suburban long is,and lifestyle is in the Wantagh, Levittown area, Obviously it isn't gonna change, it'll stay the same. Wantagh has a great school district, exclellent community amenities and a great place to raise a family. It is predominantly italian American and Irish American around here. Many people are buying smaller homes from the 50s in Wantagh for around the 300k mark and expanding and dorming them into larger homes. Lots range from 60*100-100*100 I would recommend to stay in downtown Wantagh or northern Wantagh. It's not that the part by the water is bad its just your prone to flooding and now that our climate is changing it would be safe to stay a little bit more inland. Overall I would recommend moving to Wantagh. I would definitely fell comfortable raising a family here!!!!

Stewart Manir is a small close knight community with ok schools. You have 11530 zip code which is Garden City but you have elmont schools but its own stewart manor school. Im not to crazy personaly about this town. I feel everyone is very uncomfortable and really doesnt feel like a suburb in nassau. It feels very uptight and some what over proud about themselves. I recomend Franklin Swuare instead Better schools better prices bigger lots more relaxed feel. FYI if you dont like the sound of the LIRR dont go here its extremly loud all you hear is the horn all day. Franklin Square has not train station

Hawley is a nice rural community with not much to do but take care of you 2 acres plus all day. From what i know your closest shopping center is on the boarder of New York where it has walmart kmart toys r us bjs stop and shop cosco target on the highway but thats about a 30 minute drive. Hawley has the best resort on welcome lake rd and thats is WoodLoch Pines!

Let me tell you something, This is the most awesome block ive ever lived on. I go to my familys blocks in surrounding areas or in the same town and its not the same. If you want to know true Ribbon St and True Franklin Square heres a inside secret, go 3 Blocks in from the turnpike and its like paridise all your neighbors are nice they help you there friendly you do adpctivities together and dont get me wrong all of ribbon st is nice just something stands out about the 3rd block in if you ever think if buying a home in f.s go to ribbon st 3rd block in. People are very nice and relaxed

Whitestone is very desierable to many young families, good parks and recreations eating out but things in this town have changed the town used to be primarily Jewish, Italian and Irish. now Asian and Greek immigrants are coming here and people in this town have no regard for stop signs and just driving normally. It's changed. Now all these young families are growing and there kids are getting older. I live in Franklin square in wester Nassau and what I've noticed here is many excellent young families are coming to frankln square because they want there kids to grow up and a little bit of a better environment and better school district instead of flushing high school. But don't get me wrong this is a great town to live in but things have changed here. I recomend if you live in Whitestone or anywhere in queens and you have a growing family and need a better school district quieter surroundings and great neighborly spirit I would recomend Franklin swuare or floral park I wrote a review on Franklin square and trust me I know what I'm talking about I live there. Still Whitestone is hanging in there. I still think its an excellent town in queens great commenter friendly but very high home prices but low taxes which balances out!!

Hempstead turnpike not only goes through Hempstead but from the queens border all the way to about Levittown

Very nice waterfront town in queens the thing is everyone from Howard beach and other areas of queens are all moving to western Nassau.

This is a small town where everyone knows each other with tree lined streets brick colonials and families playing is a great combination what is not a good combo is how high youre taxes are and how bad your school district is. If you taxes are 15,000 with a 4bdrm colonial on a 70/100 lot you should be getting a decent atleast school district. This is a very charming town. Malverne has a town center with small mom and pop shops and it's own train station

Very nice town to raise a family great schools nice neighbors but can get congested and in some sections could look a little runed down but for the most part a very nice town

Don't get me wrong this is the shopping heart of western Nassau county, with Roosevelt field and Kmart Walmart all those big company stores here make it easy and fun to shop. There is some housing here in east garden city of of old country road but you do have the GC SCHOOLS Public Transportation services by NICE (Nassau Inter County Express) is super good from the queens line to the Suffolk line. It can get congested around here

In West Hempstead it depends where you go. It's a very large town. To get a more community feel and suburban feel go to the section that is off of dogwood ave. It's a bit more expensive there but you get Award winning Franklin Square Schools nice family frendly parks and tree lined streets. Don't go to the part of west Hempstead where it's is off of Hempstead turnpike ( after Nassau blvd) that's where things get a bit more etchy and crime is a little higher. It is still nice there if you're atleast 3 blocks in from the turnpike. Schools aren't the best but if you go to dogwood you get Franklin square sd. FYI the dogwood section of West Hempstead has a very strong Jewish community.

My family and I moved to a Part of South Salem called Vista, which is literally touching New Canaan CT. It's been about 6 months now, once we first moved here from Long Island, it was very tough, we weren't used to no street lights, sidewalks, and close by shopping. Soundview Loop is the best block in all of Lewisboro, I'm still not used to how quiet it is, and do miss Long Island, but I will say, Vista is the best part of South Salem, If your from more of an urban area and moving here, like me, I suggest to try and find a house on a decently populated block, Don't go to East Street! There are many people from Southern Westchester here also. If you do decide to move here, it will be tough at the very beginning, I'm still getting used to it and would love to to back to Long Island, but we're giving it a chance. VISTA, is where you wanna be :)

Bed Stuy might give you the cold shoulder as a family frendly neighborhood after watching Everybody Hates Chris but this tone will come back. Still has a bad rep for crime

Marine Park is a town on the water in Brooklyn. Many homes in Marine Park are attached. This is a predominately Italian neighborhood but recently has become more diverse in a good way. Schools in Marine Park are good. Kings plaza is very close by and there not much nightlife here. It is very expensive too! If your looking to buy your first home in Brooklyn I would say that Marine Park could be a good choice

This is a very Italian town that is similar to Franklin Square but F.S is more maintained and nice. valley Stream has its own LIRR station. Around here it gets congested. There is air noise from nearby JFK Airport. Shopping options are excellent in Valley Stream is Green Acres Mall where you could find stores like Kmart and Walmart. This town has the charm of a suburban lifestyle and a urban vibe to it. Demographics in this town have changed. If you are looking for a more peaceful quiet town with less congestion and better schools being a family frendly neighborhood look into Franklin Square house prices are around the $430,000 mark for a 3-4bedroom cape. LISTEN TO THIS FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS. If you are looking in valley stream just don't anymore because you can get the same house with a lower price in queens with lower taxes in a more commuter friendly town in queens examples: Bayside, Whitestone, Howard beach, Flushing, College Point or Middle Village. if your willing to pay higher taxes and a higher price but even more of a suburban feel keep looking in Valley Stream

Roslyn, is a quaint village but it gets very congested. You need to be a business professional or work in NYC to aford a decent home around here. School district could be better. Very very high taxes. For being so close to queens you're better of paying the same amount in lloyd harbor or out easy

Nice Town, great place to just buy you're first home. Some crime Francis Lewis Blvd gives off lots of noise. Congested city LOTS OF NOISE from JFK

Hempstead Village and Town Of Hempstead first of all are completely different. Hempstead Village is one town located near Roosvelt Field, Nassau Coliseum and Hofstra University. The Town Of Hempstead incorporates many gorgeous suburban tasteful towns such as Garden City, Franklin Square, Floral Park, Wantagh Etc. basically the town of hempstead goes from Valley Stream to Massapequa. Hempstead Village is getting a lot better. Crime has decreased. Schools are improving and people are happy together. Hempstead Village is a wonderfully diverse town with a great Spanish vibe. Hempstead Village on Fulton Ave almost feels like your in a section of manhattan. Taxes are high around here. Hempstead Village will be a very desirable hip young vibed community in the next decade :)

Unless you work in NYC or own you're own shop, you don't live in Garden City the average price of a home there is $850,000+ But it is a very good town and will continue to be very well maintained.HIGH TAXES!!! Take a look at a town 5 minutes away called Franklin Square
