Bowral

"Overrated"

Rude overrated town.

Ppl are rude,aggressive and snobs.

This town is no better than there smaller comminuties and only cater for the wealthy, there high street is over priced and quiet frankly boring.

Great for a stop over or weekend get away but not worth the cost of living on a daily basis, prefer Mittagong shopping facilities and friendly residence.

Great for

  • Pretty countryside

Not great for

  • The shop keepers, the new-rich

I agree with you. Good luck though. I got some pretty nasty emails from some of the delightful Bowral people (newly arrived from a little further north and cashed up) after making my rating here.

I could not agree more. I moved out in March and have never looked back. I lived there for ten years and never found meaningful work as an adult professional. Now I have moved away, I can see what I was missing out on for so long. Bowral = Boring.

Mattbinange

Lived there for 2 1/2 years after buying our dream home and were living our dream for the first 2 weeks! Then we were approached by all the neighbors, not for a welcome but to inform us how they wanted us to maintain the house and gardens! Most of the shopkeepers were rude and snobbish and if your not a so called " local" the prospects of getting any type of employment is minimal as they really like to hire their own. I used to go there for w/e but since leaving 2 years ago, I have NEVER been back and can't even entertain the thought of even passing through! Suffered an asthma attack, went to Bowral hospital emergency, after seeing a doctor was told to sit on a chair in the hallway with my husband told to administer medication to me every 20 minutes for 4 hours before being told I could go.. A very TRUE story! I hate the place!!!!!!!!!!!

Bowral

Bowral from a local perspective is unfriendly on the outside but once you know everyone its nice. You never really get too close though as its insular and news travels and gets mis interpreted. Smart people in country towns keep their personal life close to their chests. Its really contradictory in a way as you would think you would get to share your life more. The anonimity of sydney is a relief as no one is eavesdropping constantly on your life.
