George Town

"The Upcoming Gem of North Tasmania"

My wife and I visited George Town on a short holiday and fell in love with it so much we bought our first home there last August. GT and Low Head is a beautiful area definitely with a sense of being on the up both as a place to live and as a visitor location. We were hugely impressed with how friendly the locals are and in our dealings with real estate agents etc -- everyone made us feel welcome. With Launceston's City Deal, plans for a huge bike trail network, a newly launched community action plan to increase visitor numbers and staggering house affordability George Town offers so much for those wishing a sea change no matter what their age. So, so much untapped potential only recently being realised. Now is the perfect time to make the move and be part of a fantastic community.

Ravenswood by the sea. Bogan central and as the someone who lives there told me the G'sP are doing there best to kill the people of georgetown. The house prices are cheap for a reason.

Thanks, stevem37, for your erudite contribution. Couldn't disagree more. Been in GT for a few months now and it's great. Sure, it's not Point Piper or Vaucluse; the air's cleaner for one thing. In speaking to representatives of various bodies in town, there's a lot of positives going on behind the scenes and hard work being undertaken to make change happen. Haven't visited a GP yet, but the local vets look to have a healthy business going.

Hi Ian, where did you move from and did you already have a job lined up before making the move?

Hi Andy, we moved from outside Sydney and didn't have anything lined up. Took about two months to find a job I wanted locally; Launceston has more to offer if willing to commute 40-50min.

Thanks for the input Ian :-) we are from South West Sydney and George town just caught our attention, it looks so nice. My wife is on the George town page on Facebook and she tells me the community spirit is strong. It just looks amazing especially as we have twin baby boys but obviously employment is the gamble I suppose.

Het Andy, You're very welcome. Your wife is right about the community spirit and the owner of the FB page you're referring to is a great person to contact for all things George Town.
