Redbank Plains

"Think twice about Redbank Plains"

Redbank Plains is a beautiful suburb on 'the outside' to live in, however, if you're planning on buying or renting around Highbury Dr, Henty Dr, Carney Cct or anywhere around the storm run-off areas/creeks, bush surrounds, be prepared for criminal activities, such as graffiti, vandalism, late night noise from neighbours, loud motor bikes driving up down the streets and water ways. Just to name a few.
The best thing about living in RBP is the affordabilty.
Most of the time it is quiet, but be prepared for the unexpected.
One downfall is the pathetic lack of internet service. If you rely on internet services, look elsewhere.
Telstra is extremely unco-operative here, and 3G services are unreliable. Vodafone seems to work better than Telstra or Optus.
If you're looking for a house here, make sure you have ample security measures in place, such as, security screens, house alarm, adequate fencing, a guard dog as well.
Make sure you have adequate insurance as well. (Car & home and contents.)

I have lived in RBP for 2 years now. This is my honest reveiw of the suburb.
There is no perfect suburb and crime is everywhere, however this year especially has seen a dramatic increase in crime here. If we can have a lot more police presence here, then perhaps RBP would be a better place to live in. For now though, I won't be going anywhere. Great citizens are required here so we can weed out the scum.

Well congratulations "Laughterzone", I had an outstanding citizen looking to buy a property in Redbank Plains last week. He read your review of Redbank Plains and cancelled his offer, purely from what you have described Redbank Plains is like to live in.
Perhaps next time you should think before you speak, considering buyers looking in your area will be reading what you expel from your reputable mouth.
You have not only lost a great citizen for yourself, but also for the entire suburb. Well done.

I totally agree with "Laughterzone". Like it or not everyone, this is an accurate comment. I would much rather know these things BEFORE moving here than to find out afterwards and have to deal with the consequences at mine and my families expense.

We also have lived in this same area (Highbury St/Jack Drive) for 2 years now and it has honestly been more trouble than it's been worth. We've dealt with vandalism, theft, constant noise from neighbours partying into the early hours, barking dogs, teenagers hooning around on off-road motorbikes, just to name a few! There was even a SHOOTING here earlier this year, something to do with "rival car gangs". (Was reported all over the news). It has been a huge disappointment for us. We came here thinking we'd hit the jackpot with such a beautiful house and cheap rent that was so close to a variety of living essentials. But it has been nothing short of a headache. We are practically ready to break lease and pay the extra $$ somewhere else if that's what it means to have peace of mind and quality living. Noise complaints to police are a waste of time, and our real estate has even offered to help us relocate because of all the issues we've had. I hope this area does improve in time because it has potential, but we won't be sticking around to find out. All I can say is, be VERY cautious and do your research! Life is just too short to not be able to enjoy the home and area you live in. Good luck! :)

thank you for your honesty Laughterzone, I don't want to just hear fancy stuff about somewhere I want to hear the pros an CONS :) Sorry Citizen22, I personally think this person did your possible client a favour, who wants to cons someone into living somewhere they don't really want to live in after a while since no one has been honest.

I have to say that sadly laughterzone must be in the area I mentioned - I get Optus cable where I am - perfect reception with Telstra & Optus - vodafone/3 not so good but when are they really unless you are on top of a hill ... But heres a thought ... you drive 5 mins down the road towards Brookwater & Augustine Heights and you are paying anything from 400 per week upto 850 in rent ... Rent in my street for a 3 bedroom house starts at 320 ... There is a reason why people look for cheaper rent. But if you drive over to Henty Drive side your rent would be starting from 215 upto 290 - that is why the area can be a bit nasty. But I will repeat my point about how to solve this nasty issue ... raise the rent - if Redbanks lowest rent was around $300 a week you would notice it slowly cleaning up.

The reception where I am (Optus for me, Telstra for my partner's phone) is perfect. Must really depend on the particular street you're in.

All I can say is I live in this area and it has certainly changed since this review was written. I havent noticed any hooning, vandalism or excessive noise in fact my parents who live in country qld comment on how quiet the area is whenever they visit. I bought 6 mths ago and still cant believe that I got such a lovely house for such a low price. Regardless of what suburb you live you in unfortunatley there will always be a few bad apples., however I can honestly say I havent come across any.

I have to add...yes there are some unfortunates out there that you want to stay clear of in most suburbs, but please remember that not all of us who have to look for low rent as we are struggling with poverty or maybe issues like health problems, domestic violence etc are not bad people, just had a run of bad luck, so please be considerate of that.

chris_and_niki what drugs are you on? Rents need to be lowered drastically, not raised. If you don't like the low rents in the area, simple move back to Sydney with your spoilt attitude. Redbank plains is #1 for the locals who have always lived here all our lives, not for stuck up newbies who think they can change everything.

What would clean up the area is if all the wannabe rich people moved back to Sydney.
