"Bought my First House here in 2000"
160 K for a 4 bedroom house back in 2000, seems like a bargin now. Back then though half of these estate's with tiny block didn't exist. Not sure was possessed the council to allow that (actully I do large amounts of $$$$$) but it's really destroyed what was a nice semi country town. Typical of these out suburbs, the pile people in but don't spend a cent on infrastructure to support the number of people, so you end up with a gridlocked main street.
I did like Mount Barker but would not move back there again (left in 2002)
Great for
- Cooler Than Adelaide city
- Country lifestyle close to city
- Green and Scenic
Not great for
- Parking
- Lack of Transport
- Too congested
- Not enough facilities

- Families with kids
- Retirees
"Lived here Twice!"
Lived in Tranmere on Magarey Ave when I had just started school, ended up renting a place on the same street in my 20's. Overall not a bad area, close to some good shops, near enougth to the CBD and resonably quiet.
Great for
- House Blocks of older homes large
- Close to city
- Great neighbours
- Affordable
Not great for
- Nightlife
Who lives here?
- Singles
- Families with kids

"Lived there for 10 years"
Pretty much grew up in this suburb, it inspired me to get the hell out as soon as I could. Housing Trust estate. Gangs of Teenage and Younger kids. I was looking for something positive here, all I can come up with is our house block was a resonable size. Yes there is parking (if you don't mind your car on bricks when you get back...if its there) Yes there is Public Transport (if you don't mind sharing a bus with someone that hasn't used a shower in a year) Yes there are parks (avoid the gangs and needles)
It's just a place to avoid at all cost
Great for
- Block Size?
Not great for
- The People
- Teenage Gangs
- Safety
Who lives here?
- Singles
You should see it now, peak hour grid lock. The council really stuffed up with this one.
