The Gap

"A wonderful neighbourhood for families"

Leafy, quiet and accessible, The Gap is an affordable suburb close to the Brisbane CBD. With the T2 lane in operation and the ability to use it, travel from the far end of the Gap to the CBD in traffic is around 15-20 minutes along a fairly stress free Waterworks Road. Most traffic build up only occurs from Ashgrove and there is little in the way of traffic in The Gap itself. The Gap Village is also very accessible and caters to most daily shopping needs. For dining out/nightlife there are however not many options which is one of the reasons alot of people like this quiet suburb. If you are a motorcyclist then the route up Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious are right on your doorstep and coffee at Maiala is just a short ride. The Gap is a very large suburb and different lifestyle options are available to cater to most needs. The further out from the CBD towards the end of the Gap and Mount Nebo you travel the better it gets.

Why do people think it is 15min to the city from The Gap? It is usually double that.

Do a google map directions search... I chose Illowra as it is central in the Gap to Queen St (city central).

It is 32 minutes travel time is the fastest route.

I'd agree with 15mins to the city non-peak by car even buses manage it in 20-30mins. But during peak time forget it you won't get to Red Hill in that time on waterworks, T2 or otherwise. The route that runs through Paddington is marginally faster in peak time and the route using Samford road is considerably worse.
