"Nice location - shame about some of the dog owners!"

Great location, handy to the train, handy to great restaurants and an enjoyable walk into the Botanical Garden Precinct.

But beware - when you enter Potts Point, you enter a parallel universe. A universe where it is ok to let your dog piss over shop, apartment and business entrances. A world where it is socially acceptable to let your ginormous, hyperactive pooch off-leash into small cafes and let it lick and shove all and sundry inside.

This suburb has been totally sequestered by dog owners. These kidults have no idea what / what isn’t socially acceptable, and they expect you to bow before them and tell them how wonderful their dogs are.

If you think dogs are not family and are just another pastime (in Sydney, the bigger the dog the more elevated your status because you must have control over greater floor area of real estate to house it), then give Potts Point a wide berth.

"Race track Launceston"

In contrast to most reviews here, which seems to be made by real estate agents, I would like to offer a genuine opinion on Launceston.
It has the potential to be a great town, with good facilities, convenience, interesting events and affordable housing BUT in the 30 years I've been visiting (I now live here) almost nothing has been achieved with bringing road hoons under control.
So, if you enjoy living near a retro-city that sounds like a noisy race track at least 4 nights a week, sharing your town with young and old alike who get off on the sounds of noisy car and motorbike exhausts, and a location where authorities show almost complete disinterest in bringing this problem under control - choose Launceston! Otherwise I would recommend Hobart.

This sounds like you're trying to put people off from living in Launceston. I mean, you visited for 30 years and now live there? You didn't hear the "hoons" in all that time?

Oh dear. Have I upset a Launy real estate agent or after-market exhaust supplier?

The fact is Launceston has the makings of a nice, pleasant town in a great location. Why have successive governments and their associated police forces been reluctant to bring road-hoons into line? It is not pleasant living in close vicinity to sociopaths who think it is hilarious to make loud noises with the vehicles at all times of the day.
Because of the reluctance to enforce the law many residents have to suffer. In this respect Launceston is about 40 years behind the times. Beware!
