Hillarys

"Hillarys I Beachside Living I Walk & Cycleways I Restaurants I Shopping ... the list goes on"

Location, Location & Lifestyle. Having raised our children in the Northern Beaches, Hillarys was a chosen area when my family decided to move away from the larger back yard, to a lifestyle sized more manageable property, within easy walking to the beach. It's so close to Hillarys Marina and Sorrento Quay (open 7 days a week), Under Water World, Rottnest Ferry, Fishing Charters, cafes, restaurants, and cafes. Hillarys is also home to the Whitford Shopping Centre, a large shopping centre, complete with movie theatres. A great area to raise children, with some safe swimming beaches and lots of parks.

Como

"Como - Great little Riverside Suburb with History ..."

Como is a lovely little suburb split in two by Canning Highway. Riverside Como (which borders South Perth) has the infamous Preston St, Precinct, with the award-winning Karalee Shopping Centre, a great cafe strip, the historical Cygnet theatre, river walks, great transport link, and popular schools. The Eastside of Como (often referred to as the Avenues) offers some larger home sites, mixed in with higher density, has some good schools, shops, and is home to Penrhos College, along with other government schools. It offers great transport links, Freeway access North and South and is very convenient to South Perth and Perth CBD.

"Manning - Fast Growing Area I Family Friendly I Approximate 7kms from the City."

The suburb of Manning is divided in two by Manning Road. The Southern side borders on the affluent area of Salter Point, the Northern side boarders on Como. This is a great family suburb that's really coming ahead. The area has evolved with the change of zoning, see many new homes pop up in the area. Waterford

"Waterford - Riverside Suburb I Walk & Cycleways I Public Open Spaces"

Waterford is an established suburb built along with Canning River. The development of the Cygnia Cove Estate in recent years (home of many display homes) has seen some lovely new homes in the area. The established side of Waterford offers some magnificent homes. The area is evolving and has seen some recent growth, as people recognise the value of the location and riverside lifestyle. Offering great open spaces, walk, cycleways, bush lovely there are some well-priced given its location and central proximity to Perth CBD (approximately 10 km's away). It has its own neighbourly shopping centre which includes a large Coles store and IGA along with other specialty shops at Waterford Plaza. There are oodles of cafes and restaurants along with many specialty shops. It's close to Collier Park Golf, the soon to be constructed City of South Perth Recreational Aquatic Facility RAF', Technology Park, and Curtin University. Karawara

"Karawara - Great Value - given its central location and proximity to the City"

Karawa has got to be one of the best value areas to buy in within the City of South Perth, given its central location and proximity to the city (approximately 10 km's away). It has its own neighbourly shopping centre which includes a large Coles store and IGA along with other speciality shops at Waterford Plaza. There are oodles of cafes and restaurants along with many specialty shops. It fringes on the Collier Park Golf will be close to the soon to be constructed City of South Perth Recreational Aquatic Facility RAF', Technology Park, and Curtin University. There are great public transport links and the new Manning Road, Freeway South entrance (scheduled opening mid-2020) will cut time for commuters heading South. There is a mix of homes (some older) and includes Collier Park Estate, which offers some stunning homes. Like most areas there are some pockets that are not so good, but the community along with the City of South Perth, has put in measures to address this. If you are looking for VALUE, put this undervalued (in my opinion) suburb on your list.

Kensington

"Kensington - South Perth's Little Sister Suburb..."

I love Kensington which in many ways is like an extension to South Perth. Offering an eclectic mix of character through to new homes, Kensington is popular for families looking for a more substantial sized block of land, for a little bit less than you would pay in South Perth. It's an evolving area, with some homesites being redeveloped and some being restored to reflect their original character. There are some highly sought after pockets offering stunning views of the Perth CBD. Being within close proximity to the Swan River and Perth CBD, its a winner. It has a lovely village feel, without a major shopping centre as such, but you'll find most things you need within about 3 km's. Kent Street, Senior High School is a sought after government high school in the area offering specialized programs. Penrhos (girls private School) is close in Como and Wesley College (Private Boys in South Perth).

Hertford St

"The Perfect Blend - Where character meets new ...peaceful but central!"

Hertford St is a quiet street, due to it not being a straight drive through road (it joins up with Hertford Place). The street offers an eclectic mix of character and new homes. There are lots of trees and greenery. It is easy walking to the cafe strip (but far enough away to be peaceful), an easy walk to Kent Street, Senior High School and Kensington Bushland Reserve, Harold Rossiter Park and within close proximity to local cafe's on Etwell Street, Curtin University and Collier Park Golf Course and it's close to public transport. You can conveniently catch to bus on Kent St through to Optus Stadium. How do I know this street so well? I have close family living here ...

There is good coffee and some great cafe's. There are two leisure centres, with gymnasiums, Aqua Life also offers swimming pools - inside and out, a physio pool, a spa, and sauna. Offering direct access to the river from Lyndon's Ladder (Sulman Stairs), this street is a go-to for many of the locals. If you are looking for convenience Swan St, is a must add to your list. Think of views, convenience, lifestyle, shopping and schools. Swan St, is conveniently located between Mill Point Road and Angelo St, South Perth. It is a gazetted road that runs through Wesley College (no go through though as Wesley often locks the entrance gates). It's a leisurely walk to the river and to Angelo Street, shopping precinct ( a quaint village-like feel) Perth Zoo and close to public transport. Salter Point

"Salter Point - Perth's best kept secret suburb ... I guess until now ;)"

Salter Point in my view is one of Perth's best kept secret suburbs. Tightly held by those fortunate enough to have discovered it, the home turn-overs are low and likely to be an upgrade or downsize in the area. Salter Point borders on the Canning River and offers lots of stunning walks and bike rides. It's no drive-through location, which means it is quiet in terms of traffic. It's hard to imagine you are so close to the city. You'll find an array of homes from the original war service homes through to multi-million homes offering stunning views. You can enjoy every water sport imaginable, from rowing, kayaking, fishing, water skiing, boating, and jet skis. In terms of facilities, There are two local shopping centres. Letchford Centre, Salter Point and Welwyn Ave, Manning. The newly erected Manning Hub offers a state-of-the-art Library, New modern Community Hall, and meeting spaces with modern facilities, Early Learning space incorporating a toy library and playgroup, Moorditj Keila Aboriginal Group, Child Health Clinic.
There is a new seven (7) days a week Doctors Surgery, Early learning Centre, Gym, Manning IGA store, Manning Pharmacy, Manning Fresh (fruit and vegies), R&J Butchers, a newsagent, @O'Briens Clothing - offering all the best labels, hairdressers including @Salter Point Hair Design (Letchford Centre) cafes including Rakticino and a deli - Located just under 12km's from Perth CBD. There is great access to schools, government and private including Aquinas and Curtin University. Hi Lucka, We've personally only ever had positive experiences with ALL of the shops we visit at the Manning Shopping Centre, as have our friends and neighbours. All are small businesses providing wares and convenience and great customer service to our community. If your comment refers to the aesthetics of the shopping centre, you'll be pleased to know there are some upgrades coming to the shopping centre. If you've had a bad experience with one of the shops then I suggest maybe having a quiet word with the owner or manager of the shop in questions so that they can discuss and if at fault rectify your grievance.
