Redland Bay

"Great place to live"

My husband and I own two properties in Redland Bay. One we live in and the other we rent. Yes, it is a bit further away from night life etc but we don't mind that. That's why it is peaceful and we don't seem to get any yobs running around. We can go to Victoria Point, which is less than a 10 minute drive away if we want restaurants, pub and club (Sharks). Yes, I think the local pub is a bit overpriced but we can walk there and back and to be honest having visited other pubs around Brisbane they are overpriced too. We enjoy being able to go for a lovely walk along the waterside and our kids love visiting us from Brisbane. They feel it is like having a holiday. My husband travels by bus to Brisbane and enjoys being able to sit and relax on the bus rather than sitting in his car getting stressed out. Sure it does take a while but that will soon get better once all the roadworks at Macgregor have been completed. We do have a couple of cafes where you can buy a nice latte (one new cafe is open by the water now and that's great). Do we want more cafes and restaurants? Well to be honest, yes it would be nice and I think that will happen in the not too distant future, especially when Tall Trees opens and the new supermarket and shopping area is in full swing. Our investment property has always had great tenants who enjoy the Redland Bay lifestyle. Victoria Point is good for shopping, there are 3 supermarkets there: Woolworths, Coles and Aldi (although to be honest I haven't visited Aldi because I have never felt the need to). If I want to go and get some retail therapy Carindale is not that far away - 30 minutes by car. We don't regret our move to this area and are both very happy.

Do you pay alot for rates....?

suechat

I think that the rates are higher than say more established areas - that's normally the case because you are paying for all the new services

Carly

Rates are expensive. Our recent rate bill was $726 for a three month period. I have relatives who live in Redland Bay and their bill is exactly the same. It costs about $60.50/week and this is after I have restricted water usage.
