"Family friendly living with great schools."

Having been developed in the 70's mainly you find wider streets, bigger house blocks and bigger homes than some of the neighbouring suburbs that were developed in the 50's and 60's. People move from far to also take advantage of the great schools too.

Looking for a home in Vermont South?

"A perfect balance"

Vermont South is a respectable town centre that is a short 20 kilometres east of Melbourne. It is safe and family-orientated neighbourhood offers a peaceful lifestyle for the local residents along with great schools, parks, walking tracks and local facilities.
World-class educational facilities such as Vermont South Special School, Emmaus College, and Weeden Heights Primary School make Vermont South the perfect living environment for families. The suburb also has a handful of facilities and a small shopping centre that caters for all your basic needs as well as local Thai, Indian and Chinese restaurants that are just outside your doorstep.

The recent extension of the Burwood Highway Tram has made a vast improvement for public transport in the area and buses provide direct connecting routes to Mitcham Station.
The suburb is abundant of green, leafy parkland including Terrara Park that facilitates local footy, cricket and soccer games, plus a playground for the children. Not forgetting the Dandenong Creek Trail that passes through the suburban bushland of Vermont South and travels through to Jells Park.

For a standard 2-bedroom house, you can expect to pay approx $520.00 per week in rent.
Overall, Vermont South is a favourable and growing choice as it is a safe and convenient location.

"The best place for families in Melbourne"

After a lot of research, we chose Vermont South To be the best place to live in Melbourne for families. It has one of the best state high schools and best primary schools. Mitcham Station is only a short cycle ride away (then 30 Min to the CBD) and the 75 tram to the CBD within walking distance. Less than 30 minutes drive to the sea/Dandenong Ranges. Easy access to the Eastlink.

Green and leafy with great parks. Low crime and safe streets. Great neighbours. Coles, Aldi, Bunnings, a library and Chinese/Indian/Thai restaurants just a walk away. Not only in the most liveable city in the world but in the best suburb in that city!

"Country living close to the city"

Where can you live close to Melbourne surrounded by parkland's that boast bell-birds and wildlife.
This area is quiet and safe, private and very family orientated.
I live here with a small family, happy pets, and fabulous neighbours.

Close by there is a golf course, fabulous schools, 5 minutes from Knox City, The Glenn, and the new shopping centre, Burwood One.
There are sports facilities, plenty of bulk billing med centres, a fabulous pool and gym, and free way access.

Would I recommend Vermont Sth to new families, established families, first home buyers and retirees? Take a stroll through the beautiful Bellbird Dell, and ask yourself.
Of course I would, wouldn't you?

"Vermont Suth is a well established beautiful quiet and neat suburb."

Vermont South is a fantastic location for all age group,, Serviced by all community facilities, name a few.. beauiful childcare facilities on Burwood Highway, community chid care, two aged care, library, community house and sports stadium. The recently built indoor sports stadium is a blessing to youngsters especially in winter season. Vermont south indoor/outdoor bowling and well established tennis court is another facility vermont south has to offer to the families. Those who like to play footy and cricket, Livingston and Terrara park are only few meters away from the main shoppig centre. Few primary schools and Emmaus secondary college are within walking distance, This suburb comes under two secondary colleges zone, Vermont secondary and Highvale Secondary, both are well reputed colleges in Easter region. The suburb also has a small shopping centre with lots of parking to cater for your needs. Public transport is very good, though there is no railway station, the extension of the Burwood Hwy Tram which runs directly to Melbourne's CBD is now ZONE 1 and is blessing for many especially students. The frequency of the tram is excellent, there are number of connecting buses to nearby railway stations, such as Glen Waverley, Mitchem, Heatherdale, now with the introduction of Smart bus if you live nearer to Springvale Rd there is frequent bus service to Nunnawading station.
Above all, this suburb has got a fantastic community which is not dominated by any particular ethnic group, people are very friendly and helpful. Most houses are owner occupied and streets are kept very neat and tidy.

"Burwood Hwy Vermont South - pretty good for a highway living"

Living on a highway has its advantages and disadvantages, the latter almost always traffic, noise and pollution. Burwood Hwy, Vermont South is unique in some ways in that it sits between Eastlink and Springvale Road intersections. The result is we experience normal peak hour city bound between 7am and 9am then Knox bound between 4pm and 6pm but otherwise, traffic is very mild and mainly passenger vehicles. Heavy vehicles rarely use this section of the highway so diesel pollution is almost non existent.

Having access to the highway is great if you run a home business with easy access to your customers, free parking on the service road highway frontage. Night traffic is very low except between midnight and 2 pm Friday and Saturday nights as people return home from going out. Occasional speedsters are usually caught by the police who lie in wait for them so we rarely see this type of activity here.

Vermont South shops, Bunnings, Trams and Buses are right at our doorstep or a short walk if you live between Hanover Rd and Morack Rd. The highway is 3 lanes either side with a large separation strip that will soon form the extended tram line to Knox City. The area by the side of the road has large established trees and greenery. The view Knox bound to Mount Dandenong is very inviting. Vermont Southians are generally very nice people and make great neighbours.

There are plenty of medical facilities including doctors, dental, specialists, xray etc, Vermont High and Emmaus secondary schools, very fast internet, heaps of parks and fresh air walking/bike tracks all in a clean and green environment. This area has very good safety appeal too.

There's not much in nightlife and restaurants here however there's plenty to do in nearby Glen Waverley and Knox City. I'm guessing the lack of nightlife is a strong point in making Vermont South such a liveable suburb. Check it out if you don't mind highway living.

"A Well-Established, Family Friendly Neighbourhood"

Vermont South was established in the early 1970s and stands where a large fruit orchard once did. Houses are sizeable and predominantly brick veneer. Most are on 1/4 acre blocks. Very popular with young families, particularly in the late 70s and 80s, the local Livingstone Primary School swelled to almost 700 pupils in its hey day. Many original owners (mostly empty nesters now) still reside here, however, a wave of young families is slowly sweeping across the suburb, bringing with it a new generation of kids and renovation ideas!

Vermont South is a fantastic location in which to bring up a family. Serviced by numerous community facilities, including a library, community house and sports stadium, the suburb also has a small shopping centre to cater for your needs. Public transport isn't brilliant although it has been vastly improved with the extension of the Burwood Hwy Tram which runs directly to Melbourne's CBD.
