Country Victoria - where is best??
I need some advice form local Victorians. We are kiwis currently living in Melbourne but are looking to move a bit more rural. We are moving with a budget of around $300-350k and looking for a 3+ bedroom house on a decent plot size. We like the ideal of somewhere green and leafy, that is still a relatively easy commute into Melbourne a couple of days a week (by train preferred but not necessary), and is accessible to good schools for our young son. Relatively close proxity to shops for everyday shopping etc also required. Any ideas on any suitable areas for us?

trying to spend around that price is quite hard but NOT impossible to get. I would say around the Pakenham area or small pockets of Cranbourne. If you want to do more research on those that would be very helpful. Look up schools on the nearby areas and as for transport, I'm sure there are plenty. There are still huge empty lands around pakenham as well as some pockets of Cranbourne around the border of Berwick area. I hope this helps.

Mount macedon ranges is fairly close to Melbourne CBD as well. Towns like Riddells creek, Clarkefield, Bolinda, Romsey are laid back country towns with very good facilities including V-line stations. Houses with large land are bit dear but 3-4 bedroom house on 700+ blocks are within your price range.
