Huntingtower, Carey Baptist, Caulfield Grammar, The Knox School, Emmaus College, Kingswood College

I've got my kids on the list for Huntingtower (I hear its not that easy to get into), its ranked as one of the top 10 co-educational schools in the state and a few people I know that went there said it was a fabulous school - not as large as some of the other big private ones. I am just starting to look at Emmaus, its much cheaper (being catholic) , but its also one of the few co-educational catholic schools so would be interested in hearing what others think of it. The others on the list are probably out of my price range - especially Carey and Caulfield. My kids are only just starting prep!, but I imagine by the time they get to high school Huntingtower will cost the same as what Caulfield Grammar costs today given the rate that fees are going up.

Balwyn has a very good reputation from what I have heard and my undertsanding is they do have an advanced learning program and possibly a selection process from my memory when I was in school. I would definetly have it on my schools to check list.

hi, I have put my 3 boys into Kingswood this year (junior school) and have been extremely impressed so far. We have found it to be a warm friendly, nurturing environment. The teachers have made every effort to get to know each of our boys and welcome them into the community. We also looked at Huntingtower but there was a religous element we weren't entirely comfortable with- I'm told they don't push it, but we felt more comfortable with a mainstream christian school. We have found the existing students to be kind, courteous and well mannered. I consider the fees to be moderate in comparison to the other schools you have listed- certainly not cheap, but I do feel a lot is offered for the money. Two of my boys are quite academic, and a lot is offered to them but not pushed down their throat. They have various groups available to join during lunchtimes if desired. I love that there is no compulsory saturday sports, but they do value sports and sporting achievements. Overall, I'd recommend a closer look- we couldn't be happier. Good luck!
