We need tourist attractions to get people here!
What "substantial" attractions do we have? Sydney has it's Harbour/The Bridge/Opera House/Darling Harbour. QLD has Dreamworld/Seaworld/Movieworld - what do we have?

That really sucks! Not like we were ever going to get a full scale Disneyland, it would have been nice to have something better than walley's world (or whatever it is called)
Whatever ever happened to Walley's\Wobeys world?
They do have a theme park in Werribee - it's called bogan land - see the other topic here http://www.streetadvisor.com.au/victoria/forums/out-of-control-myspace-party-in-werribee
Its a shame about not getting a theme park in Werribee.
"They do have a theme park in Werribee - it's called bogan land - see the other topic here "
That's funny BrianWard : )
Who ever thought of that ridiculous idea anyway ? All a theme park in Werribee would do is create chaos, for Werribee the surrounding suburbs and anyone who dares visits.
Sorry WishfulThinking , but it definitely is wishful thinking if anyone still believes that Werribee is a great place for a theme park. They should start by getting rid of that smell in Werribee.................
Why can't the bogan land or the big poo farm smell be dealt with in Werribee?
Having a bad day Wishful Thinking ? Before you judge these so called dole bludgers, maybe you should walk in their shoes . Lucky you who volunteered working in an op shop when they had to work for money or the dole . These people are in a vicious cycle, and as for them learning to socialise, how can they when so many judge them so quickly? I've seen them dare to enter Chadstone Shopping Centre only to be met by sarcastic looks and made to feel like lepers when they enter a designer label store. There are no jobs for people like this. They have limited education, come from broken sometimes abusive families and have no empathy from society. Sure we say we understand but we are all very comfortable in our leafy suburbs and don't really care how bad the smell in places like Werribee is.
In this day and age when we are on the verge of recession maybe we should move to Werribee and see how the other half live, because most of us are only one pay check away from bankruptcy........
"Im sorry D'Argy that I have upset you about my comments..My comments were irrelevent to the topic of having a theme park in Werribee a plan, which has been cancelled anyway,.
I think you have severely misinterpreted what I said, so I will now leave this thread. I thought it was a light hearted topic on Disneyland in Werribee...............................
That's ok, it was just getting a little too tense in here . Just to set the record straight, the smell comment was a joke and not meant to offend anyone living in Werribee, If I have I apologise.
I don't think the government can really afford to build a Disneyland anywhere at the moment......
Thanks for being civilised everyone, and for trying to stick to the topic.
For starters, It doesn't smell in Werribee. If I rolled my eyes any more at that comment, they'd fall out...
And no, we are not used to it that s why we can not smell it, Plain and simple, it just does not stink!
And the comment about werribee been a low socio-economic suburb, are you for real? Have you even been to this suburb? Met some of the residents here?
We are on a decent income, decent paid off cars, Own our own home, I'm going back to Uni to further my career.
Have you even seen the prices of homes around here. For example Tarneit? I'm sure we will have the last laugh in the near future.
Hi FieryOne
First of all, great name, I'm sure you will make a great addition to this 'passionate' community of locals :)
You are right, Werribee has a very bad stigma, and mostly undeserved. The one thing you cannot ignore however is unpleasant smell when driving through to Geelong. Now I don't even know if it is from Werribee, I just know that whenever I drive through the region close to Werribee, I associate the bad smells with the area. Forgive my ignorance, but isn't there are waste treatment plant? In that case, is the smell coming from there?
In regards to the locals, I'm 100% sure everyone they are great people, I don't think anyone was attacking the integrity or class of the community.
The sewage farm is located outside the town, so it isn't that close to the CBD. If you CAN smell it, it would be when you drive past it. Only around the farm is where it would smell if it does. The rest of Werribee is clean, and you cannot smell anything.
As for the theme park, I think it's a good idea that it was cancelled. The reason for that is that the noise and excitement would startle the animals. The constant noise would drive them mad. Maybe if they found an area away from the zoo where it wouldn't cause much noise and hassle for the animals, and people living around the area, then it might be okay.
I think its a shame that they did not approve this. It would be great if they did actually approve it. I think many citizens would enjoy a zoo theme park and it would attract more tourists of which would spend more money that goes towards strengthening our economy which is so important right now.
I believe we need more entertainment/attraction be built in major cities. If we can attract internationals to visit on a holiday we have a higher chance of those tourists becoming investors in our property market and ultimately our economy.
