Reviews of Wesson Road, West Pennant Hills
"State Forest makes this suburban pocket more than averagely interesting."
Wesson Rd is slightly unusual in that it is a double cul-de-sac – a cul-de-sac at each end – and the entrance to the road is made via Valda Street, which leads off New Line Road.
It’s very close to the main through-route of Castle Hill Road, and has numerous facilities nearby.
The street itself is leafy and green, and the properties are mostly older. It’s a quiet and attractive neighbourhood with reasonable house prices.
There’s an ABC childcare centre very close by on New Line Road, but I believe this may be currently for sale. There are also city buses nearby, Edward Bennett Park (used for sporting activities), the Koala Park Sanctuary. There are a couple of pre-schools close by, West Pennant Hills Public School is a short drive, and Coles is the next block over from that.
One of the biggest pluses for the area, and Wesson Rd is walking distance (for a longer walk), or a very short drive – is the Cumberland State Forest. It’s the state’s only metropolitan State Forest, and a well kept secret. At 40 hectares of natural forest, it has walking paths (on leash dogs are allowed!), BBQ facilities, picnic areas, a café, nursery and information centre. As well as the general facilities – the forest offers a fantastic school holiday program of activities. It’s a wonderful resource for families with older children, and younger children will love running around in the great outdoors.
