Woodford, QLD 4514

The surrounds are beautiful but my experience has been extremely bad. Unfortunately there is active prejudice alive here in Woodford. LGBT people are ridiculed not just in public, but at their own homes, as are single females. Alienation from the use of community information social pages is common for people who dont agree with the admins... the socials gives most of the local business advertising and this alienation leaves many members of the community completely isolated. Calling out bad behaviour is not acceptable here, which has given rise to dark behaviours of all kinds. There is a feeling by many people I have had contact with, that there is something wrong with the land at Woodford, which seems to attract preditors and the mentally ill, of which Woodford has an apparent disproportionate amount of. On one side of my home is one of Queensland's worst convicted child se* offenders who flashed me at my side fence when i first moved here; reported but with no police action taken, BUT the real kicker is that I have been forced into leaving Woodford solely because of the viscious and relentless bullying campaign by the neighbours on the other side of me who simply dont like me. Woodford has many stories like this including adult suicide due to community bullying and alienation. You can research and read all this yourself in the Woodford social pages (go back a while) AND The Courier Mail. If you have kids, think twice before moving to Woodford. It's cheap, but what's your kids and your wife's safety worth? They target women, children, and people they think are weak in Woodford. Move to woodford at your own risk. The community doesn't seem to have a strong enough moral benchmark to keep the bad away. (but the Jeweller is REALLY good).

Perfect, lovely town. Couple of venomous people as in every town, but overall this is the perfect place to live!

IF I COULD AFFORD TO MOVE I WOULD.
I have lived at Woodford for 3 years. I came from Sydney. I am a 52 yo (in 2020) female pensioner with limited  mobility. The gr8 reviews I read partially influenced  my  choice to buy here. I now realise that if there are good     reviews, people will come, ergo... an increase in property prices. Land owners win. I dont care about my land value, id rather tell the the story  as it is for me.

This is my experience of Woodford:

Woodford, Queensland IS MY LITTLE CORNER OF HELL. IT hides dark secrets in plain sight.

I have found the town small minded and full of prejudice. It is a town of adult bullies and perverts. Its a difficult place to live. There are many unsocialised as well as uneducated people around the area. They dont like new comers. If they really dislike the cut of your jib, they will try to run u out of town and tell you so. Ive endured repeated damage to my property, trespassing and stealing.  Ive been flashed through a fence, and ive seen someone urinate in the middle of the day in front of an open retail shop. Recently, there were people (more than one person )trying to ascertain my exact address from a local Community FB page admin because they didnt like one of my posts! I not only fear, but believe that they were intending to group outside my home to protest against me, like an angry mob vying for blood. You will be sensored on social media groups, or completely barred from participating and even viewing local pages, which renders the victim residents, of which there are many, further alienated and isolated because everything that happens in the area is advertised on social media, including children's activities.  There isnt a relevant local newspaper.  There is no shyness in threatening to kill your pets or staring you down, or yelling at you in public. There is a flagrant disregard by many for respect of others in Woodford. They do what they like, when they like, regardless of social convention, respect for another, or the law. Thats just some of the MINOR things that I have experienced during the long 3 years I've been living in Woodford Qld. I am shocked to the point of sickness that people in this modern day in Australia still behave in such a manner. Its like something from the Deep South of USA, where families are inbred, and there is no schooling.

By contrast, a little way out of town are large properties that run sucessful businesses.

There is little public transport, so a car is essential, however there is access to 2 train stations; 25 mins drive to Beerwah, or 30 min drive to Caboolture and the Bruce Highway.

If you are a discerning or educated person, remotely civilised, or even a gentle soul, think twice about Woodford.  I suggest you look elsewhere eg: Wamuran, Glasshouse Moutains, or Malaney, even Beerwah.

There is a maximum security prison at Woodford.

If you are looking to invest, it may be a good choice. I am told that Moreton Bay Council consider the area "high value". There seems to always be a wait list for rentals to become available. HOWEVER, I only hear of nightmare tenants who stop paying rent and damage property., requiring eviction. I recognise the bad tenant risk is everywhere, but ive never heard such a volume of bad tennants in 1 area. It might be due to the jail. People rent here, close to the jail, so they can conveniently visit loved ones in lockup.

There is a Woolworths, IGA, hardware, chemist (2), doctors (2) a few cafes... Mung Beans Cafe is the best. There are 2 other independent cafes that can be disappointing, and a chain cafe with 2 shops in the town. There are some other retail stores also, a well kept public swimming pool that closes during winter, and a Library. No fuel station, but one is on the way which will host a fast food outlet with drive thru service.  Plans are available to view on-line.

The famous Woodford Festival is held abit out of town. The Festival doesnt seem to influence the town in any positive cultural way. Infact many locals have an intense dislike of the event and its patrons.

Woodford is not just a semi-rural town in Queensland. It seems to run by different rules to the rest of Australia.  Its like the last frontier. A lawless town. People here know the local police are just too busy to attend to petty crime and minor assaults. If you are looking for combat, you will find it in Woodford, but if you become a victim of crime in Woodford, you won't get support from anywhere.

For Woodford to change it needs a bomb dropped on it. Perhaps, in 30 years, a generational change will happen, but it will take that long. Remember that uneducated or bully parents culture bully kids with no education or pride. For a change to happen, those kids need to disperse from the area as they grow up, in order to make space for more civilised residents. That wont happen anytime soon. People live here in houses with no services. Not off grid... but houses with no power or running water.

Please read the other reviews below, and the comments associsted. Reading these "reviews" will confirm that there is enormous venom in Woodford. Having lived in Woodford, many points of the great reviews are inaccurate, right down to travel times, and bus service frequency. There are 3 school bus runs. 2 out of town in the early am, and 1 back to town after school.

Also Google search crimes in Woodford. There have plenty of major crimes like murder and other major terrible, life changing crimes. A small town having such frightening events at a frequency of more than 1 in 50 yrs is something to take notice of.

I think that some reviews here have been driven by personal agenda to get your money. There vacant land here for sale, with plenty of choice to come.

Buying a home, and raising a family is the biggest thing any person will do. Do you really want to live or raise ypur kids in a place where you are expected to give more than you take, or be labelled as an itinerant scumbag because you havent mowed your grass or you dont go to the pub?

Dont get stuck in the mud with the animals like I did. If you cant afford to move out once you get here, dont come because there is a good chance that living in Woodford QLD will change you and your life for the worse, and maybe forever. I know ill never be the same again. People have been driven to depression and anxiety by the prejudice inflicted on them by the old school locals here.

I hope Woodford moves toward a civilised and friendly town before I die, but I dont think it will. The only good thing about the place for me is the climate. 😪  Its not even a nice place to visit. Its just a rest stop for people on a Sunday drive or motor bike ride, and a place to store criminals.

Great little town with all the mod cons, modern woolworths, Iga, bakery, butchers, news agents, multiple chemists, Doctors, schools, local swimming pool, mechanics, builders, bottle shops, etc .. it also has a reliable postoffice, police and fire station plus a few takeaways and excellent cafes... and it now has a traffic light.. (not sure if that's good or bad)

There are swimming holes and forest creeks, Somerset damn is just a few mins away, 20 mins to morayfield. We moved here several years ago and boy has it grown. .. we love the place due to its beauty, low crime, good schools and friendly atmosphere.
Petrol station is on the edge of town... litterally 2mins from centre of woodford.

Some times review sites like this have people talk rubbish about towns like Woodford but lets be honest, they're usually low demographic types who inflict themselves on a town demanding everything without giving anything back. Many are transient types renting, who dont mow their lawns, but do collect a pension... and are generally more unhappy with themselves than the towns they live in. . . So yes.. i get annoyed when they put place with so much to offer in a negative light.

Despite what someone else said.. House prices are starting to really climb so if your thinking of moving here I'd do it sooner than later. Do your own homework, some places like mine for example on revaluation jumped 100k plus value in the last 4yrs with little more than some lawn care and a garden... so yes there is still room for growth.. and yes there are still bargains to be had.

Rentals are usually gone the day they become vacant as they are scarce and people want to live here.. this isn't a low demographic haven. Im no real estate agent but I am a local, so I dont need statistics to tell me when it comes to population growth... its happening.. its a booming little piece of qld less than an hour from beaches, swimming, large town markets and cities in every direction.

Cant recommend the place to home owners, families and small business people enough. We moved from the city and wont be moving back anytime soon.

I have lived here for about three years now and have experienced both the good and the bad things about Woodford. It has a small population so it's fairly quiet. The only times that traffic is bad is either peak morning/afternoon or over the weekend. Heaps of easy parking parallel to the main street which is great, just turn in wherever you want from the road. Has a Super IGA and Woolworths (although Woodford's Woolies does not have a complete range as you may find elsewhere). Depending where you live you may find quiet neighbours, but other times you could end up on a street full of noisy screeching bogans (I swear Shazza from Housos lives right next to me!). Rental properties are incredibly hard to come by, especially for those who only want a moderate sized house between 2-3 bedrooms and you'd be scratching to find somewhere as a single person. Woodford's rental housing mostly consists of large family Queenslanders upwards of $280-$350 or more. Very expensive property prices that are not worth what they're asking for. Land is also expensive. You won't find anything under $130k.
Woodford has a nice country feel though, and I think that's why I have stayed here for so long. Mostly the locals are friendly and helpful, crime is moderate to low, but you will find it highest in the centre of town around George Street (which comes right up to the pub so that shouldn't be a surprise). There is a Subway, Eagle Boys, Chinese, the pub and a takeaway called The Victory (for hotbox and burgers, fish etc), but what the town needs is a PROPER cafe with heaps of different meals to choose from because Jallas is WAY over priced now, and CJs may have a decent range of savoury, sweets and sandwiches, but they are also very expensive and have been stinging on the fillings for sandwiches, rolls, wraps etc but still charging $5.90 when the wrap is half the size they used to make them (trust me I used to work there, the owner has bought too many stores and is obviously getting in debt so quality and size has gone down heaps).
Woodford has its own medical centre, veterinary clinic (they are really good), a few specialty shops, chiropractors and there's a gym on the outskirts of town in amongst the industrial area. I haven't been there but people seem to like it.
I may have listed more cons than pros, but I'm being honest here. I do like Woodford despite these cons. If you can afford it then by all means come here since it has a fairly good balance of country life and residential without being too far out from Morayfield, which is 30 mins drive (this is more accurate than 20 mins btw, unless you are flying down the shortcut at Wamuran with no regard of the lower speed limits).
Note: if you move to Woodford make sure you have a vehicle of your own, there is next to no public transport (one bus and one taxi)

Is a nice little homely country town which is situated off the D'Aguilar highway between Wamuran and Kilcoy. Woodford has Local schools, Shops and even a local pub. The people are friendly and its an all round safe life style.

I have lived in Woodford for a little over 3 years and writing this review due to a few comments made about the town I know call home. Woodford is generally a friendly quiet country town. For a small town there are 5 Take Away places! I don't know what these comments are about but there are 2 places that sell fish/chips/burgers etc, Eagle Boys, a Chinese takeout and now we have Subway as well. There are 4 cafe's, a pub, a childcare centre a school, a preschool, an early learning centre, medical centre, police station, 3 churches, parks, a fitness centre and Yoga shed, bowls club, golf club, 2 shops etc. For a small town Woodford has a lot, certainly more than most small towns including a small industrial area. Granted there is no petrol station , but god forbid you have to drive 4 km to D'aguilar, a far cry less than many people have to drive from their houses to find a petrol station. If you think prices are expensive then try living in somewhere else. I live for 8 years in a town where 8 years ago petrol there was already $1.39/l and rent for a a 3 bedroom house was min $450 a week. It is all well and good to moan and groan about things but seriously Woodford is a great town that offers great things to its residents. The crime here is minimal contrary to what someone stated in an earlier comment. The person who was whinning about have 3 police officers here would have been the same person whinning that there is never a copper when you need one. Those police officers cover a large area and also provide services such as Blue light discos for the children. There is a lack of public transport although there is a bus that runs from Kilcoy to Caboolture and back a few times a day.

Woodford has a Woolworths, a newly opened Subway and a huge hardware store plus many clothing shops and some very unique shops. The cafes in Woodford are always full on weekends with the weekend visitors to and thru our town. The Wooodford Village Hotel has an amazing restaurant. We have schools and a great array of sports and sporting venues. Woodford is a very popular area for horses and horse events. We have the Woodford showgrounds and we are 20 minutes from the Queensland Equestrian Centre in Caboolture.

That we have an agent/developer on here talking the place up in an effort to justify their overpriced estates in the area.
I notice that no-one has mentioned that there is no work in the area or that the main feature of Woodford is the maximum security prison that is lit up like the Wacca at night.
20 mins to Caboolture? That only applies if there are no crashes or horse floats on the goat track that has been deemed fit to call a highway.
The fact that the police force has recently tripled must say something about crime in the area.
All in all Scoey you can keep it.

Still a small friendly town but with heaps of small local businesses. Quiet weekdays, busy tourist drive stop on weekends (keeps the town full of activity and well serviced for the locals). Golf, bowls, historic pub, heaps of cafes etc, public library, social and service clubs and community activities.
All the benifits of outer suburbia set in a rural township and just 20 min to Caboolture centre or the highway.
