"Why we love living in Woombye"

We fell in love with Woombye the moment we drove into the town centre. The main street is picture-perfect with it's sweeping mountain views and quaint old shops; yet behind this sleepy facade is every convenience you could possibly need close to home. The town centre boasts it's own train station, supermarket, doctors, pharmacy, local pub, post office, community hall, childcare and much more.

Our estate is a twenty minute walk to the town centre. It's a little bit hilly and fringed with patches of forest. We love looking out our windows and seeing trees, not fences! To us, coming home to Woombye feels like we're getting away from it all, yet it's just a short fifteen minute drive to Sunshine Plaza or twenty minutes to the restaurants and night life at Mooloolaba.

The neighbourhood is quiet but comes to life of a late afternoon. When we walk our dogs we are greeted with friendly "hello's" by groups of parents sitting in their front yards watching their children play together in the street. Many people walk their dogs without leads and noone seems to mind. Woombye seems to house a good mix of retirees looking for a "tree change" and young families enjoying the benefits of raising their children somewhere a "little bit quieter".

Woombye also offers great value for money without the perception that it is a "cheap" suburb. People always tell us how much they love Woombye when we tell them where we live. We're very proud to call Woombye home.

"Not much happening, far from the coast"

Rented in Woombye for quite a while and also work here regularly. It’s ok, but there is very little happening in the town so you always need to drive to get what you need. A little ‘gossipy’ too given it’s so small. Personally we just felt too far from everything you want to be close to on the coast (shops, surf, school etc) and we didn’t regret moving out of there.

"A Small Town"

Woombye: Since we moved in we feel great living in there, excellent place to live peacefully, friendly neighbours, lovely atmosphere and great mountainous views. Lovely trees over each side of the roads, good maintanance by the council. Economical to rent houses and remote from the busy tourist place and traffic on the coast. Easy to approach everyplace in almost 10 to 15 minutes. Whatelse do you need for a great living....Welcome as we would like to live with lovely and peaceful neighbours....

"Quiet Central Sunshine Coast Location"

Woombye is one of the Sunshine Coast's best kept secrets. It's close to everything due to it's central location, yet tucked quietly away from the hustle and bustle like that of the busier suburbs of Maroochydore and Buderim. Woombye is a popular suburb among young families, retirees and couples due to it's quiet, safe and friendly estates.

It's central location offers easy access to both the beautiful coastal areas and the spectacular hinterland. The town centre of Woombye has a quaint nostalgic feel to it, with a variety of shops, and local businesses. The local supermarket stocks organic and local produce.

There are plenty of schools close by, including Tafe (a quick trip into Nambour), and Uni is only a 15km trip to Sippy Downs. The Nambour Toastmasters Club meets at Nambour Christian College in Mckenzie road Woombye. There are a few local churches close by. Woombye has it's own child care centre, GP, Physio, vet and hair dressers. A lot of the popular and major attractions of the Sunshine Coast are only a short drive away.

Woombye's central location allows many options for the locals, with Noosa to the North and Caloundra to the South, the hinterland suburbs of Montville and Maleny to the West, and Coolum and Mooloolaba to the East there is always something to do and beautiful places to go.

A lot of the locals enjoy four wheel driving through the tracks in many of the state forests. (A permit is very easy to obtain) or along the beaches at North Shore and Rainbow beach. Other locals spend their weekends at their favourite beaches along the coast, or attend the many markets, attractions, events, and beautiful parks and picnic spots.

The Sunshine Coast is truly a beautiful place to live. The locals enjoy the relaxed lifestyle, and Woombye is at the heart of it all.

"The country feel living close to the city"

Woombye is a great old town. With new estates opening up people are taking advantage of the easy access to Maroochydore with the opening of the new road. The old part of town still has the close knit neighbourhood feel while the new estates are offering heaps to do for young familys which is making for wonderful communities. Young freindly people always welcome and the old hotel is a great place to catch up for a drink. This is a great place to raise a family and has some of the best schools in the area.

"Woombye - plenty of history to learn about"

Woombye is on the Sunshine Coast approximately 100kms north of Brisbane and was once the staging post for the Cobb and Co Coaches. The town was once called Cobb’s Camp. The local pub is 209 years old and the Woombye Soccer club called the Snakes is the oldest on the Sunshine Coast. The area is also home to the big Pineapple. There are many arts and crafts to be seen as well as many shops for your basic needs. There is accommodation at the motels and there is a seafood and takeaway store as well. Being so close to the Sunshine Coast home prices are a little on the expensive side.
