Brisbane schools and about the town - relocating

We are relocating to Brisbane for my husbands work in August. We are looking for areas that have excellent state schools and are great to live in. The two main areas we are currently looking in are Ashgrove and surrounds and Chapel Hill and surrounds. Both areas seem to have plenty of great primary schools to choose from so we are looking also at the high schools as our eldest will go to high school in a couple of years. Currently the main ones we would look at with the suburbs we are considering are The Gap & Kelvin Grove and Indooroopilly & Kenmore.

Id like to hear from people with kids at these schools. Are there plenty of wonderful programs for regular intelligent amazing kids as well as the selective entry kids?
Also for those living around Chapel Hill, where are your go to places for a cafe and dinner out with a cool vibe?

We are looking to offer them plenty of opportunities as well as a chance of being happy and enjoying school.
