"Great Place For Kids To Grow Up"

Maybe I am biased but I believe Ayr is a great place for kids to grow up in, small enough getting lost or mugged isn't a problem, with enough people for a couple sporting teams. Most facilities are close by and well catered for. The area has great fishing spots, good camping, boating and other outdoor activities. The district is still fairly dependent on sugar and other primary industries, your hi-tech or academic career might not exactly flourish here, and come adulthood many of the school leavers will choose to up and leave for the bright lights, but even if they do I'm sure in time most would look back foundly on the place.

There was a time when the average wealth of the district was one of the higher in the country, as well as most 4x4 registrations per capita for memory, I doubt that is still the case but still a great place to live if the simple life and outdoor activities are you thing.

Ando I just found your comments and I could n't agree more. What a great place Ayr is.I've been there a couple of times now and I call it a feel good town, its friendly, affordable, close to Townsville, and the Whitsundays, unbelievable fishing, and I was blown away by the cultural centre for a small town it boasts amazing facilities.I think your comments were right, its a great town to raise a family.I just realised its the largest cane growing area in the country, has the best water supply, and growns 40% of the mangoes, and heaps of work if you want it.Maybe it should be kept a secret.Nick
