"A little far out of town"

For me it is too far out of town and heads into boring suburbia territory.

"One of the better ones"

Originally from the north side, now fiercely defensive of the south. Beautiful homes, quiet streets, easy flowing highway straight into the city, all the groceries and takeaways you need. Definitely a lack of Cafe's around here, but Gordonvale has some of the best Eggs Benedict in the whole of North QLD so that's ok. We've also got all the nice swimming holes on the south, as well as some gorgeous footpath tracks all around the suburbs. You're not just walking past houses - you're walking along side crystal clear flowing creeks. Yes there is some crime - but where is there not these days!? Lock up and there's no problem.

"A lovely place to live - avoid the school at all costs."

This is a beautiful and well planned suburb. The high school is a different matter if your child is not in an "A" class - don't go near it. I taught there and it was even rougher than Weipa. Teachers are treated like complete trash - not by the kids (well, that as well) but mainly by the management. The school does not deserve dedicated professionals. This school will become increasingly rougher as poor behaviour is rewarded with time off to play computer games. Teachers who try to teach are punished. Modified fake exam results are a travesty, illiterate children pass at the "National Standard"...

"Family friendly suburb."

Green and leafy. Easy access to amenities. Supermarkets, parks, sports clubs and schools. Friendly neighbourhood. Easy drive to city for work. Walking tracks everywhere. Houses are generally on nice big blocks with wide streets. On the weekends its an easy drive to anywhere and we have enjoyed exploring the southern part of Cairns just as much as the more popular northern side. Good value for money if buying a home. We really love it here.

"Lacking the character of Cairns"

In the southern suburbs of Cairns. New cheap houses going in. Nothing to do. Near other suburbs with low class demographic so crime flows in. Beaches are the best bet. Cheap and nasty in Bentley.
