This post is above all informational of MY experience with Blackburn Lake Primary school and what to do if ANY schools fail to support families and who they can turn to - #VictoriaPolice. Reviews are exactly that- reviews, good bad or otherwise so others can make an informed decision. 2023 : Vaping, threats of violence/killing, and bullying all of this in week 1 of term 1 - 2023. Bullying culture is alive and well under the leadership of new Principal David and new Assistant Principal Rebecca (aka: Bec) @BlackburnLakePrimarySchool Both are aloof and dismissive of the serious and damaging nature of bullying, threats of violence and assault. I had contacted the school in writing with my concerns of bullying and threats of violence to my child on many occasions only to be dismissed - in both term 1 and term 2. Term 3- known school bully physically assaulted another student and was witnessed by many students at lunch play and when it was reported to the teachers, the students reporting the incident were deemed trouble makers for bothering the teachers and the bully was not held accountable. I escalated my concerns to The Victorian Education Dept' , Ombudsman and eventually Victoria Police as the school failed in its duty of care not only to my child but to many others. If your child is bullied/threatened at ANY school and the school fails to respond or support your child, contact Youth Resources Division (Forest Hill Police) you will be heard and assisted. Victorian School Principals know the protocols of bullying and if threats of killing and or violence are made to a student by another. As Principal he is OBLIGATED to refer the student/parents being bullied to Victoria Police as I have since learnt. Because of the lazy governance at BLPS, David failed in his duty of care - PERIOD. The many failings and inappropriate conduct from new Principal David - voice recording my child and her classmate with his mobile phone in HIS office still hasn't been clarified to me as I write this review. How long has this practise been going on, and parents are unaware? ALWAYS address your concerns in writing to schools so there are no denials or misinterpretations. In my opinion, #Blackburnlakeprimaryschool needs to be investigated and / or monitored at the very least by the @VictorianEducationDepartment Kids should have fond memories of their primary school years - not trauma.
