I found this advice about mosquitos from the QLD government including Mosquito-borne diseases and how to avoid bites.

The mosquitoes are worse in Brisbane compared to down south because we are in the sub tropics but if you want a real mosquito experience you need to go to the Top End. They have giant mosquitoes with proboscises designed to puncture crocodile armour. I got 200 bites in one night in the Kakadu and I was sleeping in the car.
