Gary we all grew up and made family’s and settled down. I take my kids occasionally there to eat. I think box hill needs a revamp but I love chadstone and the city. As a tradesman BOx hill is very central for working in surrounding suburbs.
Great food and nightlife too bad box hill was dry zone but it didn’t stop us from drinking. I walked through box hill after midnight very safe if you’re not looking for trouble!
I don't live in Box Hill, but some of my friends live in that area and they never tell me there is a crime.
Like many suburbs around, caution is always the best. They do make a good attempt at keeping the streets safe, and police presence is good and proactive.
If you're going out to restaurants, should be no problem. A number of years ago, there were some issues, but this seems to have quelled down with the increasing number of night-time eating places.
