What is the chance of sink holes - as Bribie is a sand Island?

Interesting question. Im not an engineer but wouldnt there be a higher chance of a sink hole in a higher density area, ie. Building/ infrastructure.
Bribie is not a man made island. There are erosion issues along the banks and across the sandbars but not sure of sinkhole theories.
