National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS)

The difficulty with the scheme has been on a couple of fronts. Firstly, most lenders have been reluctant to lend on these properties, however this is slowly changing. Secondly, allocations were made to marketing companies who never had the intent or ability to actually build homes, rather they were interested in reselling allocations.

Personally, I am an advocate for the scheme but like most government programs that involve private partners it has been poorly executed.
