Excelsior Public School was an excellent primary school with dedicated teachers, at the time of my children's attendance the principal was the only drawback but shortly before they left a very progressive headmaster took over. Our experience of Castle Hill High ended around four years ago. At that time it was not the best school for my daughter who attended from years 7-12 (the other went elsewhere), however she has now gone to university with the intention of making a difference to what is on offer in education within the public school system. That having been said, it wasn't the teaching staff at that school that were the problem most were wonderful teachers and very decent individuals, it was more the attitude of some students that were not interested in being there (in large numbers) drugs being readily available was another bad thing that made it a bad experience for not just my daughter but for our whole family. This may be the case everywhere but definitely is here.

Looking for a home in Castle Hill, NSW 2154

You would be quite happy sending your child to any or most of the public schools in the Hills district. There are pros and cons to every school. Some do have very strict boundary criteria so if you wish to send your child to a particular school be sure that where you are looking to rent or buy is zoned for that school or you may be disappointed. There are of course issues in every school (not just in the Hills and not just public schools). These issues will be found in most schools around the country...the larger the school then the more obvious the issue tends to be. In particular we have found the primary schools on the whole to be charming, caring and warm environments that have nurtured our children. People will tend to focus on their own experiences or their own areas, but generalising I would say that the public schools both high school and primary have some very fine teachers and on the whole, and for those students that desire to learn, participate, involve themselves, there are many opportunities in the area. Parents input and involvement is welcome in all schools in the area, particularly primary and our schools thrive on voluntary participation. High schools also have a lot of areas where parent involvement assists with decision making and fund raising.

There are also a host of high quality private catholic, Non denomination and affiliated Christian, and secular schools which vary in fee structure. All seem to have a good overall reputation with varying focus on sports, academics and arts depending on the school.
