Hi! Could I please get some updated info on Corio? Any truth to the bad reputation? Thanks!

Hi, Its a nice decent suburb. People are nice and has everything you need for family. Its been in eyes of people as great investment opportunity because of its proximity to Avalon, Geelong cbd and train station.

You would be better sleeping on the streets than living in Corio anytime. I bought a house last year and still live there and moving out by this year (THANK GOD FINALLY). Every house has a drug addict or a convicted criminal living there, High Crime rate, everyday street stabbing, child abuse on streets, Loud music all day long, all big houses getting subdivided to units so that more Junkies can rent at a cheaper rate (already happening), high police corruption, high council corruption, also your life does not really matter to anyone if anything ever happens to you, you lose all friends once you move there. LAST NOT BUT NOT THE LEAST, NOTHING COMES ON NEWS TO PROTECT THE INVESTORS AND LOCAL POLITICIANS WHO ARE SUBDIVIDING IT.

What a load of rubbish, I moved from the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne around 3 years ago and have no issues living in Corio. More junkies and scumbags in Melbourne, like all suburbs there are good and bad pockets.

Ive lived here all my life, 61 yrs. Like any suburb, town, city there are good people and not so good people. Corio as of January 2022 is on the up real estate wise. People from all walks of life and nationalities live here. There are new subdivisions and developments happening. Corios old reputation when it was a working class suburb( as it had major industries like Ford, International Harvester) is no longer relevant. A good indication if you find a house you like, drive by at different times of the day and during a week day and then weekend to see the area or take a walk around the streets. Talk to people. Corio as other people have said is close to Melbourne, the ring road, Avalon airport, the Surf Coast, The Bellarine Peninsula, the Tasmania Ferry Terminal is under construction at Corio Quay. There is a major shopping centre, a new Barwon Health facility, schools, Gps and Dentists. A new swimming pool earmarked for construction. 10 min drive to Geelong Waterfront and Westfield. Remember no matter where you live you can always find bad apples, but the majority of people make up for the few rotten ones.
