Reviews of Cranbrook, WA

"What's Going On?"

Cranbrook has gone from being a possible rural hub to an almost ghost town. The new IGA folded in weeks and remains closed. The General Store closed down a couple of years ago, and that had the only petrol in town, other than the credit-card-in-a-machine on the abandoned biofuel project. Word has it the local council is a bit of a dud, local interests keep it that way. It's pretty, it's neat, it's quiet and it's on life-support.

Great for

  • Peaceful and quiet

Not great for

  • Few facilities remain, Mt Barker for all your shopping and fuel.

"OMG!! - I love cranbrook"

I love this place, we come here on our way to Albany, the ladies in the bakery are sooo nice and I love getting fish and chips there. It isn't far from Mount Barker or Albany either. And we went to the top of Sukey Hill and you can see all the Stirling Ranges! It's so peaceful and quiet and there's like no traffic. I haven't lived there but it looks like it would be a great place to live and escape all the rush and noise of the city.

Great for

  • Peaceful and quiet
  • No traffic or crime - and not too far from Mount Barker and Albany.
  • Good for young families, retirees, couples and people looking to escape busy city life.

"Quiet Country Life - perfect to escape the rat race"

Quiet but thriving country town with school, shops (supermarket, cafe for take away and internet access, general store, pharmacy, second hand store), park (with barbaque, playground, sporting facilities and skate park), hotel with pub, Wildflower Walk, caravan park, police station, post office, church, fuel station, elders, sporting facilities (tennis, basketball, cricket, football, soccer etc), new lawn bowls and club house and a short drive to the Stirling Ranges. Just 4 kms in from Albany High Way, this little town is best for small families, singles, couples and retirees. There is hardly any traffic and no crime. The primary school has about 70 children and there are about 300 friendly people in the township. Only 25 minutes drive to Mount Barker and a little further to Albany.
