Reviews of Dalyellup, WA

"Oceanside is the place to be!"

Lived here for 3 years. Usually dislike living in suburbia but on the Oceanside of Dalyellup it is bliss. We are 700m from the beachfront and it is so quiet I can hear the waves rolling in. The amount of bushland and parks surrounding us is extraordinary - the developers and council have done a great job in design and upkeep. Most of the parks have playground equipment, BBQ's and picnic areas and the main park has gym/workout equipment near the lake.

It seems as though there are 3 different areas in Dalyellup that cater to all people. The more affluent on the Oceanside - west of Maidment Parade, families in the mid area which have "bush blocks" being much, much larger than the average block being between Dalyellup Blvd and Maidment and the more compact, affordable and a bit less attractive area of the Tuarts which is pretty much between the highway and Dalyellup Blvd.

Dalyellup now is home to a Woolworths shopping centre, bakery, chemist, gym and newsagents and with time more specialty shops to come. McDonalds has also just opened - 24hrs. It is a 10 minute drive into Bunbury CBD.

There are bus stops everywhere but I am not sure of the timetables and how good the bus system is. Plenty of schools but again cannot comment on how good/bad they are.

I love living in Dalyellup. Very safe, comfortable and perfect for nature lovers and beach goers. Only gripe - wish there was a pub/restaurant close by.

Great for

  • Beach and 4WD beach access
  • Community spirit

"RE: Dalyellup is a place for families.."

I have now lived in Dalyellup for 3 years and have thoroughly enjoyed living here. It is clean, quiet and is great for the beach. I don't have children, but there are a few schools to chose from (all of which I have heard from friends are very good), there are pleny of parks for the kids to play in and every few months the community has free events at the main park on Maidment Parade ranging from concerts to picnic days etc. Homeswest houses can be found in any suburb of the south west so Dalyellup do not just hold Homeswest properties. I would recommend anyone to live here and if you haven't been here, come in and see what you are missing out on..

Great for

  • Beach and 4WD beach access
  • Great schools
  • Community spirit

Not great for

  • No supermarkets close by
  • Public transport could be better

"Good family orientated community"

Lived there for 5 years, has been a great place and met many good people, most who come form either Perth or interstate, overseas (UK and South Africa)
Plenty of work prospects in industries up the hill and south, can commute to Perth if you can hack the travel (1.4 hours eachway)
Plenty of schooling and local doctors, unlike the rest of bunbury it is easy to get an appointment for kids at local GP. Hospital is only 5 minutes away and the beach and surf club is great.
Can still take 4WD onto beach and drive as far as Busselton.
10 minute drvie into bunbury CBD.
lots of bush retained (25% of delveopment) local district centre to be built in next year or so, is very overdue.
Lots of money being invested into the schools this year (29 million allocated by the state goverment).
Lot of silly hype regarding Homeswest housing which is in nearly every suburb and the percentrage of homewest is under 1 in 25, only one in every 3 or 4 streets and only limited to fornt and centre of estate.
The rural section (half to one acre bush blocks fully serviced) and the beach side are certainly the best parts and tend to hold good value.
In an nutshell you can do a lot worse than live in Dalyellup,
