There are actually 3 types . . . . .and the Dayboro township area is serviced by the 3rd type, an Auxiliary Fire Brigade. These guys are trained and receive payment for their time should they be called to attend a fire incident, roadside accident or similar emergency. They are on a call-out basis as opposed to the Petrie Fire Station which has paid staff rostered on. The Rurals are volunteers who get called on to attend any incident occurring in the rural areas i.e. out of town. There is probably confusion in that the Dayboro & District Rural Fire Brigade's shed is located just on the outskirts of the township, but this is because it is to cover the rural areas surrounding the township - hence its central location in relation to that area.
