"Too busy and too much traffic"

The development keeps coming, and the cars increasing, I've lived here for 10 years and disappointed that it's quite peacefulness has been ruined.

"Best suburb in Sydney"

It is so close to everything, south to Olympic park, west to Parramatta, North to the St Ive and northern beaches, and east to the city all within 30mins grasp. I love it because it is quiet in our Enid st and lots of playgrounds for kids and adults a like. Top Ryde shopping center is only 5 mins away with a lot of parking always. Schools are among the best in Sydney, but not as stressful as some highly competitive ones. I love the proximity to Meadowbank ferry and Parramatta riversides, which provides great running, walking and cycling paths (you can even walk to the Sydney or Parramatta if fit enough). The Ryde hospital and RNSH provides the best health care in Sydney. Not to mention the Chinese and Korean eating hub of Eastwood if in our finger tip.

"So close to everything"

I have been living in Denistone for the past two years and absolutely love it. I live in Anthony Rd, so I am very spoilt, being so close to the train station, shops, schools, and parks. I have four children and they have all attended local primary schools and now high schools.

When heading to the city if you drive you can either go down Victoria Rd and avoid road tolls or head through Eastwood and Marsfield and use the Lane Cove tunnel. If you need to go West you also have the M2 or you can head over the bridge to Concord and use the M4. It's really in the middle of everything.

It is a small and quite unknown area - there is Denistone West which shares the same postcode as Denistone (2114) which is also the same postcode for West Ryde and there is also Denistone East using the 2112 postcode - the same as Ryde.

Schools are excellent, depending on where in Denistone you live you may fall in a couple of different catchment areas - Ryde Public, Denistone East Public or West Ryde public. There are also a number of Catholic Schools in the area. St Therese, St Kevins or even St Michaels in West Ryde.

Shopping is great with West Ryde Market place currently undergoing a revamp to include a new Coles which will be in addition to the current Woolworth's which has also just experienced a new referb. It also has a bulk billing doctor, chemist, dry cleaner, butcher, nail salon, hair dresser, Gloria Jeans, etc. Great if you don't want to head to the big shopping centres like Top Ryde, Macquarie or even Carlingford.

The trains at Denistone arrive every 15mins in peak hour and on the hour during weekends.

Parks are great and lots of sporting clubs around.

"Nice choice of balance between life and works - high potential for growth"

I relocated to Denistone from Innerwest (Ashfield) in 2011 and it get a bit of time to get use to it (in a good way) because it is quiter, more green and less people. I used to wait for few hours just to see Dr in Ashfield/Burwood, but it often less than 20 minutes in this area which I find it is a big improvement for me and my family. Shopping - good choice of shopping at Top Ryde or to East wood for Asian foods. I am glad that I didn't move to Eastwood or Epping as it is further away and much more traffic during peak hours consider that I drive to work everyday. I have good choice to walk to Denistone or West Ryde train station (or bus) which come to handy when needed. I don't hear train at all from my home but I guess that depend on where you live in Denistone. Great public school too, will send my daughter to Denistone East Public school next year which ranked around 30 of top Public Primary school in NSW. I think it has a very good potential for grow in Denistone.

the birds also take getting used to :) but feels good after a while living in nature all around you as opposed to concrete and congestion.

To kbunchar, " ... high potential for growth"!!! - am totally shocked, frustrated and angered that you state this. Denistone is one of the few places left in metropolitan Sydney that does not suffer with the overcrowding via greedy developers gaining approvals from greedy govt bodies. You state that you didn't move to other areas because they are too busy, yet you state that Denistone provides opportunity to (in other words) become overcrowded also. We've been here almost 30 years and DO NOT want any more growth in Denistone.

"Ryedale Road"

Fantastic access to transport and shopping, Denistone is leafy and quiet. Lots of birds in the mornings. People ask about the trains, but they aren't bad at all, in fact after a while you don't even hear them. Having the trains close by is such an advantage for our kids now in their early teens, it has given them the chance to be independent from us a bit. It will be great when they head off to uni, especially if they get into Macquarie Uni!
