Why is Five Dock now so shabby and boring

No longer does Five Dock have trendy cafes. The main stretch used by nice and pleasant but no more. I just moved into the suburbs and must say it's looking quite shabby and dire. There does not seem to be any good quality restaurants nor a quality fruit shop. Yes there are some Deli's and a great Gelato place but overall it's quite dire. Coles re-placed Super Barn and itself is lacking in quality. What do people like about the main strip? Am I missing something. I do like the proximity to the city but its a pain to get to in public transport. I must admint that there are som really nice houses and it is quite for a suburb very close to town. Come here if you want to live in suburbia but dont come here if you want a great cafe and restaurant scene., choose Rozelle!!!
