When you say Rural, do you mean country? Because our country towns are 25-30 minutes away from uni campus. If you are willing to move closer to town, I can recommend several suburbs nearby both campuses that are also close to public transport, shops and are safe. For the Geelong campus I would recommend, Geelong, Rippleside, Newtown, Geelong West, Herne Hill or East Geelong. For the Waurn Ponds campus I would recommend, Waurn Ponds, Grovedale, Highton, Marshall, Belmont and Wandana Heights.

Hi Toni, Thanks for responding, I come from a very small, rural/agricultural town (it only has 4 asphalt roads, the rest are dirt roads). Do you have any ideas on what rent would be like on a fortnightly basis in the areas you have recommended? Would appreciate any more info that you could offer. Thank you, Courtney

Hi Courtney, Depending on the suburb that you look at will depend on the price. If you are looking around Bannockburn, which is a beautiful country town only 10-15 minutes to Geelong's CBD- A standard 2 bedroom home/unit that is only a few years old would be priced anywhere from $250 - $320 depending on its finishes.

Recently a neat 2 bedroom unit in Marshall was advtd for $260 p wk. 5 mins from train and buses to Deakin Uni.

Anyhow, I hope you are settled by now somewhere nice.

Good morning Courtney,

I hope you are well.

How many bedrooms are you looking for? Rent can very depending on new/old homes and size of the homes.

Thank you

Hi Toni, Thank you so much for your assistance. I am looking for something small with 2 bedrooms, preferably. But I would happily live in a one bedroom place (if it was big enough for all my junk lol). It will only be me, so I don't need anything big, as long as it's a clean, safe place I would be very happy, as long as it fits within my budget. Thank you, Courtney
