What are the good areas for a young family on a budget in Geelong?

Hi I am moving to Geelong with my 3 children in the next 2 months, from Ballarat. I am a single parent in a tight budget so lolling for a 3 bedroom rental ideally under 320 per week. I am a kiwi so not familiar with the area. I am going there this weekend to have a good look around, as only visited once before. I will be buying eventually but want to rent and get a feel for the area first so would be good to be in an area I would likely buy ( purchase price around $350k). My question is Can anyone advise safe areas, and good public primary schools? Thanks
