Best surburb to live north central coast?

Hi, I am relocation from Melbourne to the central coast and am looking at advice on suburbs in the northern end as I have a lot of family living in Newcastle that I will be regularly visiting. Areas I have been considering are Gorokan, San Remo, Lake Haven, Watanobbi, Halekulani and Mardi. Basically anywhere above Berkeley Vale as then it is getting quiet far to travel. Ideally we would like to be as close to the beach as possible however have a budget of $600,000 for a 3-4 bed house. We have two kids under two and are looking for a family friendly area to bring up the kids. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Out of the suburbs you listed, Mardi/Tuggerah would be a good option, but the houses seem to be on the smaller side there. A good place that's worth considering might be Charmhaven - it probably meets all the needs you mentioned. Budgewoi is great for beach access, but might have some emerging social issues worth investigating first.

If you are looking closer to Newcastle and the beach i would recommend checking out Lake Munmorah, Budgewoi, Chain Valley Bay. They are lovely safe family friendly suburbs
