Kids playing on the street and in each other's gardens: Family friendly areas in and around Hobart?

Hi, we are moving to the Hobart area with our two kids (6 & 2) and are looking to live in an area with a good community feel, where it's safe and normal for kids to wander around (e.g. to friends' houses, to school, beach, play grounds, woods, shops etc.) and where it's normal to drop by for cups of tea and playing with neighbours. We're loosely wondering about Taroona, Bellerive, Howarth, Lenah Valley, South Hobart but that's just based on google earth! Any insights into streets, areas etc really appreciated. Thanks.
