Reviews of Inverloch, VIC

"Not what it used to be."

Inverloch is becoming an unfriendly place with many entitled and arrogant people that have moved here in the past two years. It's noisy as well. Gone are the quiet times. We have lived here most of our lives but past few years we're seeing more city people who are trying to make this town into a city by pulling down trees, concrete everywhere, killing wildlife, not giving a stuff about nothing but themselves. Inverloch has become seeded with the entitled new money.

"Ecletic mix of traditional beachside town and cosmopolitan pizzaz!"

With a vibe all of its own Inverloch has some diverse and distinct areas to enjoy and live in. I particularly like the way it is being tastefully developed in the older areas close to the beach - alot of the native vegetation is being retained with high quality architectural style homes hidden in the street scape. Accessible, Affordable (depending on what part of Inverloch you are looking at) and nearly everything in walking distance. Tick, Tick, Tick!

Great for

  • Beautiful beaches to walk along
  • Fantastic beaches!
  • Can buy all the necessities of life without travelling further

Hang on?? You complain about the lack of shopping facilities yet there's too much "Urban Consolidation"? What do you think will happen if we build more shops here?
Laid back characteristics are generally reflected in a small amount of shops and "small" supermarkets.
2/5 is ridiculous... this is a 4 star coutry town with great local character, IMHO. :-)

winkypop

Legsio - the 2/5 was an error......which I have amended. Re: the "urban consolidation" - I just think it is shame to see so many lovely treed areas being taken over by townhouse and unit developments.

legsio

Ok... i thought as much as I couldn't understand the reasoning. Lots of people come here and complain about the lack of shops and then mention how the townhouses and units have changed the place. Unfortunately thats the result of building a supermarket here. I would prefer there was no supermarket and travel the 8 minutes to Wonthaggi where there is Coles/Target (full city style being built, not Country) /Safeway/ IGA / Big W / Aldi, to mention a few. Oh and Bunnings has started construction.
The place has changed and the council has recognised this and I believe it was the State Gov't who have imposed a "small country town" restriction on it to restrict growth.
Please, everyone, come visit, but respect the locals and protect our town!

legsio

Oh and the council have designated areas around the town for medium density construction to allow townhouse construction, but have restrctions in a lot of the treed areas to protect these. Hopefully they keep these.

Raymondo

Interesting. As of today. 28-11-13. House prices are down approx 13% on last year. Yet prices advertised are 23% higher than last year.

"A great place to live"

Inverloch is the way our suburb in Melbourne used to be ! People here are courteous, friendly and willing to lend a hand when you need it. Our neighbours give us a wave as we drive along the street. The beach is beautiful, the traffic is quiet and there are rarely queues in the shops or restaurants except at holiday time. We have a holiday home there and spend most weekends there. We plan to retire there in around 5 years and hope the fast pace of life in Melbourne hasn't spread as far as Inverloch.
I hope bupbow who did the previous review thinks twice before returning to the chaotic traffic, stress and high cost of living in the city

"A beautiful seaside town with everything you could ever need just 5 minutes away!"

Cape Paterson is a very quiet and very beautiful seaside village. Continuously expanding, Cape Paterson is becoming an excellent investment and a fantastic place to live! With Wonthaggi just five minutes away, you get all the bonuses of living away from the city, with all of the conveniences still right at your door step!

  • Fantastic beaches!

"Beautiful, but over priced."

Feel of the place has been destroyed since the desal plant went ahead. Now busy all the time, rather than just holiday periods. Rental prices which were already on the high side are now totally insane. House prices are also on the absurdly high side for a regional town. As beautiful as Inverloch and surrounds are, the benefits are now almost totally outweighed by the high prices and busy streets. We have been driven out by the costs and are heading to Melbourne to find better value.

"A wonderful seaside location that boasts plenty of positives"

Inverloch is a stunning seaside town that sees thousands of tourists pass through every year. Beatiful beaches and surroundings. There are some decent quality eateries. A perfect place to retire. Does get very busy with tourists in summer. However winter is lovely here and being able to get a carpark anytime or a seat at a local restaurant/eatery is a bonus.

Inverloch boasts a large public park that is a favourite with young families. It also has bbq facilities, plenty of shade available and is adjacent to the beach. It has regular bus services to Melbourne and surrounds.

The Inverloch Farmers Market is held on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 8am till 1pm. Everything is home grown to farm fresh produce and attending helps to support the locals.

Another attraction is the Dinosaur Dig. The annual dig at the Flat rocks site near Inverloch in Victoria has been taking place since 1994 and more than 12,000 fossil bones have been catalogued in that time.

The nearby RACV Inverloch Resort is fabulous and has a lovely bistro.

There are plenty of positives to Inverloch. A wonderful place to visit.

"A relaxing laid back town."

We have been visiting Inverloch for several years and are currently building a beach home in the area. We love the suf and inlet beach. We love that our kids can have the freedom to run and play, ride and scoot, skip and swim and feel the freedom and relaxed lifestyle people used to enoy in Metro Melbourne but no longer do. The cafes and pubs are all lovely and the service very friendly. We especially like the Japanese Restaurant, Pub lunches and Chinese Restaurant. The fish & chip shops can get a little overcrowded and service can be slow during peak times. We can't wait until our home is complete and our school holidays will be spent in Inverloch. Such a beautiful unspoilt location that is well loved by people on the South East side of Melbourne.

"A Special Place"

Inverloch is a special little town on the shores of Andersons Inlet. It retains much of that seaside village feel, yet has a vibrant and positive atmosphere. Our kids love being here, whether its a weekend of fishing, a boogie board at the surf beach, or a game of golf at the par 3 course. We just enjoy the peace and quiet, somewhere to escape our busy lives. This is a wonderful place to live or to visit, and less than 2 hours from Melbourne.

"no better spot to wind down"

Fantastic place to get away from the rest of the holiday makers and people in general at any time of the year. Even over the New Year break there's enough room on any one of the 5 beaches for every family to have a game of beach cricket. National park frontage to the beaches, one road in and out, no traffic lights, two life guard services-a lovely quiet and safe spot for a family holiday or to live.

"Dont Buy in Inverloch"

Inverloch has been ruined by the construction of the desal plant. At some point in the near future Inverlochs beautiful coastline will be ruined by the waste produced by the desal plant.
Our marine life will no longer exist and the smell of dead sea life will run those left from the town as well. There is no shopping in inverloch unless you want to pay a fortune for everything you buy so you will need to shop in nearby wonthaggi.
The local Real Estate Agents have flooded the market with properties for the desal workers which inturn has increased the value of sale properties quite extensively so dont buy here if you dont want to be ripped off by at least 150,000,00 - 200,000,00.

A little melodramatic I think. If you want shopping go to a Major town or city. Seaside locations should be just like Inverloch. Laid back, casual and enjoyable.

Shalika1

Lisam,

What the hell would you know, do you live here all year as I do?

Inverloch real estate has increased by 81% in just the last month
so dont spout off about something you know absolutely nothing about!

The desal plants construction has ruined our little seaside town as its
now full of desal workers and over priced homes and rentals.

The CBD is full of only eateries as the local small businesses can
no longer affords to pay the outrages rents being asked so we have
no shopping at all.

If you lived here you would know that, so dont make comments you
cant back up !

Shalika1

Greedy agents have caused property prices to increase by 81% since December 09.

Newcomer

I think Shalika needs to go home to wherever he/she came from ! We don't need or want people like him/her in Inverloch ! Its a beautiful little place loved by many and the people who actually live there are happy with it the way it is!

c-s-p

Spot on, as well as now with the rush of many city people coming in buying and trashing what was left. Gone are many trees making way for more houses/apartments and we keep noticing more and more dead wildlife.

"THe quiet life by the sea"

Cape paterson has it all if your looking for beach activities in a quiet rural setting. Minimal shops but Wonthagi is only a 5 minute drive away. There are 3 beaches available so that anyone from toddler to adult surfer has access to an appropriate beach area. Beaches are also patrolled during the summertime. If you want the quiet life - CP is it! And only 1.5 hours from Melbourne.

Unfortunately Inverloch is not the sleepy little innocent town it once was , thanks to greedy developers , locals who have become instant millionaires, due to rapidly rising property prices , and those that have moved to the town and appointed themselves protectors of the enviroment; if ever a cure for cancer or similar requires a grain of sand and a cup of water from Anderson inlet; these do gooders would do all in their power to prevent it happening.
Nice place for a short break but don,t consider living here permanently ; the underlying credo of the locals in regard to newcomers is to determine how much wealth you have , how you came by that wealth , and how they can best get a share of said wealth
